does the origonal one not work for you? this one seems too bulky... but if its going on a heavy truck, i can see the benefits.

well...

I currently have the antenna under the wiper cowling. I'm not getting the best of reception there. I think I would have better reception with the truck/RV antenna...

Try mounting it in a different spot. Check a few threads down at the "sirius antenna location" and people have several nice not revealing places that they put it. i.e. putting it above third brake light

i have mine above the third brake light, no signal problems at all. you want the antenna to be able to 'see' the sky with no obstructions...

Best mounting position is on the roof so that the truck doesn't interfere with reception. Also where you live determines reception. One drawback with satellite radio and tv is that you need a good line to the source. I can almost predict when I will lose the signal. Like am radio under a bridge. Also learned to remove the mouse antenna before a high pressure car wash. If you have a sliding rear window you can run it there, and I've seen where it has been run thru the winshhield rail to rear window brake light over the headliner with a snake.
