Delphi RoadyXT Docking

To make a long story short, I am installing a Delphi RoadyXT in my truck and have managed to hack up the 12V to 5V power cord that came with it and ned a new one. I still have the end that plugs into the reciever, so if I bought a cordless phone charger and spliced in the end for the receiver would it work? Or better yet, any way to hardwire into switched power? This is what I was trying to do but the reciever wouldn't take the 12V. Or even better is there a dock I can buy that plugs into the 12v and holds the reciever and supplies power all in one? I don't want to have to buy another car kit for this thing just to get the power cord.

cigarette lighter adapter

The easiest thing to do is to get a cigarette lighter adapter and plugging in the cigarette lighter, but since you hacked your cig. lighter and if it is no longer usable your next best bet would be to find another cigarette plug with 5V that will fit your roady and splice the wires off a cigarette lighter adapter to an acc.
Or like you said, you can get another plug with 5V out and splice it in, just make sure to wire the + and - correctly (it won't power on if they are backwards is all)
The reason your roday didn't power up with 12V is because the cig. lighter plug is where the 12V gets converted to 5V for your roady, hopefully your unit didn't get fried with a 12V power source.
The colors off your stock HU wires are pink/black (or lt.grn/ylw on lariat FX4 and XLT models) for acc.
black or black/lt.grn
