Alpine KCA-SC100
Alpine KCA-SC100
Does anyone have any information or experience with the Alpine KCA-SC100? Alpine states it allows interegration between their newer headunits and a Sirius Plug And Play receiver (the newer style with the docking system). Alpine states that it will be compatible with a docking system available from Sirius in spring or summer of 2007, however I have emailed sirius about the dock and they basically know nothing about it.
Does this unit work with the standard dock that comes with new radios or is there a special one out there someplace that needs to be purchased?

As long as the sirius unit has the new connect feature it should work. The new docking stations have a special cable that runs from the alpine unit to the sirius receiver so it will need this new connection.
The only thing I can find on the sirius website is the dock that came with my unit, I have the starmate 4.

On the back of the dock there are 4 plugs I believe, antenna, power, audio out, and fm out (had a mini antenna to plug in). Plus then the was the pin that plugged into the receiver unit itself, but there was no extra cable to plug it into a headunit.
Is this the dock you speak of, or is there another type out there?

Sirius is supposed to be coming out with a new docking station that allows you to use your portable with the Alpine unit. Right now the only way the Alpine unit will work is with the Sirius universal tuner. There is no way yet to use a Starmate or Stilleto or any of the tuners with the Alpine unit. If they ever do release the dock, it should be pretty cool as you will be able to use all the features of your Sirius portable on the head unit. I got tired of waiting on the Sirius dock and went ahead and got a Sir-Alp1. I still have my portable though and may switch to be able to have the replay, game alert and things like that.
Yeah, I just finished reading pretty much ever site I could find and thats what I figured out. So really I would have to buy the alpine unit, and the sirius universal tuner (SCC1). But that would be pretty much pointless cause it would be the same as having the Sirius SIR-ALP1.
So I shall sit and what and hopefully it wont take that long to come out. I sent Crutchfields an email earlier to see if they knew anything, cause sirius is pretty much useless for that.

My problem was, I could not find anyone who knew anything. I called Sirius, Directed, Alpine and Crutchfield. They showed the SCVDOC1 at CES and now no one seems to know anything about it. Only time will tell.

It would work perfectly to get sound with out having to use the FM Transmitter. However the KCA-SC100 from alpine and the sirius unit that is suppose to be coming out soon, will allow full control of the sirius plug and play unit thru a compatible alpine headunit. Therefore you would be able to hind your sirius plug and play away out of site, but still be able to take it out of the truck and use it in your house or another vehicle.
I just think it would be pretty sweet to be able to control the sirius unit thru the Alpine IVA-W205. Right now I have it plugged into the AUX In on the head unit and it sounds great, i would say CD quality. But the sat radio is either in my cup holder or stuck to my dash (on the days the 2 sided tape decides to hold to the dash). So, I'll sit and wait for sirius to hopefully one day put the new dock system on the market.
This is an article briefly talking about it, but no real clear details or pictures. Looks similar to the universal dock that comes with unit know, but I beleive it will have another port on it to allow intergration with the HU.

Like dconder said, No one knows anything about this unit, Sirius and Alpine dont know anything, and Crutchfields know what I am talking about but have no idea on the release date.
