XM Install

Hey all,

I just thought I'd mention a couple things about my install that I did last night.

First, thanks to all for their posts about removing the center panel trim, third brake light antenna install, and various other tips. Everything I read on this worked flawlessly. The third brake light is a heck of an easy install for the antenna. Pulling the panel off, as mentioned in other posts, was scarry to be reefing on it like that (it was on so tight, my finger tips are still numb and there's a line across them!!) but I put my faith in you all and sure enough, it eventually gave.

Now, for the unit itself, since I already had a small external XM tuner in my 05 Lariat, I wanted to stay with XM in my new 07 KR (mostly for the hockey...I'm a Canuck you know!!). I didn't want the same old external tuner stuck to my dash so I went looking and found an XM tuner that would intergrate with my factory Nav system. I spent an hour last night running the cabling and such and then made a small shelf below the nav unit that attaches to the brackets there, to mount the XM receiver. Works perfectly!

After getting XM to switch over receivers on my account this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see it all working great. I can't use the genre, guide, or keypad soft buttons but I can use the presets so that's good enough for me.

Anyway, thanks to those who share their knowledge on this forum, it helps us all!!

Mike

I've been looking for a month for an XM receiver that will work with the factory nav system on a 2007, what did you find that worked?

XM Receiver

I ordered from www.ancoauto.com. The unit arrived very quickly (less than a week) and since I'm in Canada and it had to go through customs, that was impressive. Great customer service as well.

XM installed easily

update.. I bought the Ford XM kit from www.ancoauto.com and it works perfectly. The install took me a whole 10 minutes. I just simply unplugged and removed my Sirius unit out of the dash and plugged in the XM unit and the harness into the back of my NAV 6disc Sat Ready 2007 radio and instantly I have XM in my F150 with it looking factory. As for the antenna, I just simply took the plastic clip off the end of the Sirius Ford factory installed antenna and it plugged right into the XM unit and works perfectly. I haven't had one issue with it since installing it 1 week ago. Any questions feel free to email me Ill try and help.
