Question Power Adapter/P.I.E

Two questions regarding power.

1. If I were to leave my power adapter for my satellite radio plugged in, but had the power turned off, will it draw any power from the power port? In other words, can I just leave it plugged in all the time?

2. If P.I.E. is supposed to be connected to the constant hot, will that draw any power when the vehicle and radio are off?

I've been hearing different things and just want to make sure that I don't run the risk of ever coming back to an uncharged battery.

Thanks

1. Not sure if it would still draw power but I don't see it being a problem.
2. I have the PIE connected to constant HOT and no problems even after a few days.

power drain shut-off

Isn't there a built-in safety device on Fords that shuts off power after 30 or 45 minutes? I know my '95 and '96 TBirds had that protection. Last night I moved my XM antenna under the hood of my 04 and ran the power cord behind the bezel--by the way, GREAT instructions for bezel removal and cord routing on this forum. After about 30 minutes with the doors open, the interior lights went out. I thought I had shorted something out since it went dark while I was trying to get the head unit back in place. Turns out, all was fine..no short. I can hardly wait to yank the bezel and HU again when PIE finally releases the XM6-FRD04 so I can eliminate the 12v adaptor. Just a tip on removing the bezel...a 2" stiff plastic putty knife works great for adding a little leverage when pulling that sucker out for the first time.

What is the ETA on this release?

I run the power to my SAT radio from the radio harness. I tapped my 12v from the delayed hot that keeps the radio on for 15 min after you shut the key off. That way it plays without the engine running.. That eliminates any unnecessary parasidic drain. and shuts it off when the door opens...

Yes it will. How much.. I don't know but in relation to the rest of the stuff that is still running when the key is off I think it is negligable. It is just there so that when the radio powers on it finds the PIE adapter (subbing in for the DVD)... I am not going to worry about that small of an amount they use at standby. If you leave this truck for 6 months or more I would expect after 4 or more years is on the battery you might not be able to start the truck but normal running .. even leaving for a month or two you should not see anything happen.

If you tapped the 12v from the delayed hot, how come you didn't do that for the P.I.E. also?

Would anyone happen to have a picture of where the delayed hot is so I know which wire to cut in to? Or a wiring diagram?

There was a picture in another thread somewhere in this web site of the delayed hot. If I remember correctly, I think it is a white and green colored wire. It may be in the 2004-2006 F-150 forum.

I have my Sirius radio and PIE adapter powered with an add a circuit connector plugged in to fuse #22 on the fuse block. The add a circuit cost me $6.00 - $7.00 at PEP boys.
