Talking Seriously Sirius

Well, it's done. I just finished installing the antenae and running the wires for the Starmate Replay. I went in thru the 3rd brakelight, popped out the grommet, ran it along the back of the headliner to the weather stripping on the side, took that all the way down the front of the door to under the dash and across. Came out thru the cup holder. Gotta find a good mounting bracket, I'm not thrilled with the options I currently have...

TIME TO ROCK!!!!!

BTW - Boom box for the Starmate Replay is due out this month. Pics don't look bad!

i mad a simple bracket form .050 piece of aluminum that mounts from the 2 bolts that hold the tray in the top of the dash. it sticks up from behind the dash bout an inch then my starmate moutns right to the bracket. my wires also come out at the top where the bracket does, works great and no messy wires all over the place.

i'll try and take a pic, but not sure how to post them on here.

For a bracket, check out Pro-Fit. The VSM (vehicle specific mounts) are the way to go...

Here's one in use in my 2005 King Ranch F-150...

As you can see, it's a custom made mount for my truck... check them out...

Rockpick,

What holds the mount in? Friction, or did you have to remove the trim piece?

Thanks for the help guys. I like the one RP has, unfortunately they don't make that for an '01...

I think I'll look local. My concern being keeping it out of the way of the cupholder and the acc. plug door.

I have the same mount as RP and you take the trim piece off and use two bolts that hold the stereo head unit.

They supply directions for pulling the center console, and it uses a single screw ( think one from the radio ) and the shape of the bracket, stops it from moving.
They are nice brackets, I had one in my '01, got one for my '06, and jsut did a GPS mount in my mom's van with one.
If you ever had a Hertz car with never lost, they use the Pro Fit brackets all the time for mounting the head units.

Sorry I missed that question..... khindal is exactly correct.

I can't say enough about the pro-fit brackets -- they're TOP END. Very high quality IMO.

I mounted mine in the sunglass holder in the upper console. Took power from the dvd and ran the antenna through the brake like. I like it because it is out of site.
The Starmate get real hot. Hope it doesn't bake in there.

Sweet I was just going to ask if you could mount it on the drivers side of the radio! I'm going to order one for my blackberry and would like it close to me for easy viewing, etc, etc....

I have a cradle that uses suction mount for it currently and the thing is a PITA - these mounts look much better!

Thanks guys

Mounted Mine here..............check my gallery

I used the same pro-fit but modified it to fit where the cig lighter was. I wasn't crazy about the mounting covering the Vent on the passanger side.......
