Anyone know how to hook up XM to AUX function?

I've got a 2004 F150 that currently has an XM Commander by Terk installed into the antennae port. The installation was done by Circuit City and was free w/purchase.

I was reading last night in the latest issue of Crutchfield that this unit could be installed directly into your AUX function and would result in better sound quality.

Have any of you guys/gals done this and is there an additional adaptor or plug that I would need to purchase?

Many thanks in advance, Jerry

best bet is to call Crutchfield tell them what you have and ask them how it gets "plugged" into the aux.

Aux Hookup

I recently installed a Sirius into my 2005 F150. I used the PIE adapor and it works just great.

The satellite radio input sound as good as a CD playing.

They are pricey--about $80 --and here is one source.

If you have a DVD alreaddy installed, the PIE will not work since it plugs into where the DVD would.

Yeah it's a 3.5 mm to a Y rca adapter. It's in the home kit if you want to look at it. But you can get it at Wally world or any where that has electronics really

I own the unit here that jerrbitt mentions... this *IS* the way that you want to go if you care about the sound quality.

I was working off a FM Modulator for several months and found myself loosing interest in my XM... after installation of the P.I.E. unit, it's a NIGHT AND DAY difference. The sound quality, while not CD level, is VERY good (and, honestly, not too terribly far from CD quality).

I highly recommend the piefrd04!

If you regularly us XM (and with a commander unit, I know you do), definately spring to get the PIE AUX adapter. You'll find yourself thinking how you put up with FM modulation for so long.
