I have had Sirius for about six months now...I love it! I was fortunate enough to have it included with my satelite dish, so I was able to preview it so to speak.

I love the blues channel, Buzzsaw, and Maxim radio. I can't wait for Howard Stern, but I like the programming so much on Maxim, I haven't listened to Howard Stern for several months.

Just my 2 cents!

Happy New Year!

I own sirius. I bought before I knew about the Howard Stern deal.

My co-workers wife worked for XM when they first got started.

I have nothing against XM. As it seems Inbred has a lot against Sirius. Thou protest too much!

As I understand the two business plans;

XM- low initial cost to get as many subscribers early
go after large corperate accounts
do everything it takes to get new subscribers first programing is second this is what wall street favors-growth not substance-hence the higher stock price

Sirius-an initial cost that if subscription numbers are met will show a profit
go after programing content and technology first then subscribers will come

XM nailed it in the begining and very smartly used their lead to market to kick sirius in the butt they almost lost their butt and had to raise their price to keep wall street happy

sirius is now coming out of the box with deep programing and some new big corp accounts

2006 will be interesting for both!!

Sirius is putting the pressure on with Howard and have met and exceeded all forcasts.
XM is putting up a great fight and seems to not be losing any market share

my answer to this long thread is that I chose sirius for it programing

SIRIUS hands down
Had both XM and Sirius for a year, and held on to Sirius. I've done about a dozen installs for friends and family.

Both are better than FM, but programing is superior with Sirius

as a former FM-AM radio station owner and operator and now primarily a stock market investor > i have recently made the move to purchase not only a sirius system for my year 2005 F-150 but i also bought the lifetime subscription for $500. if i keep my truck for 10 years which i plan on doing that breaks down to a mere $4.16 a month. even if i only keep my truck for 5 years i am still ahead of the game at $8.32 a month. anyway. not only did i buy my sirius system last month. but today i purchased 4,500 shares of sirius stock for $6.51 a share. me and howard stern say that sirius stock is gonna be at $10-15 a share this time next year. so me thinks that mel karmizan is gonna make me some mad money. BOOYAA

I personally love the XM now that I'm hooked up. They have a nice deep music library. I've had it hooked up for two weeks now and have only heard one repeated song. The two things I hate about regular radio are the over-repeated songs and the commercials. I have neither of that now. I mainly got XM for the MLB package and that hasn't even started yet. I think all this Stern/Sirius buzz is a little overrated. I think it'll tail off after and initial surge. And as a bonus, since I have an XM radio, I can get it on-line also and listen to it all day at work and while I'm here at home browsing this forum. I don't know if you can get that with Sirius too. I've never checked because XM was always my preference. Both companies will probably stay in business. It's all personal preference with what you want to listen to. You can do a free three day trial online if you want to sample XM.

Here is an article with a peek into the future of satellite radio. XM is going to get into the MP3 player market to challenge iPod.

I work at sears part time selling electronics. We sell both as well. I have heard more complaints actually about sirius losing reception just out in open sky in town then XM. However XM does play alot of music that i have not heard of. Plus w/ sirius you have to register to a vehicle and i beleive only 1 unit can be switched in between only 2 vehicles whereas XM you can take anywhere and put in anything. thats a rumor from what i heard i'm not sure how much truth there is to it.

I have Sirius tuner and use it in my truck, car, and house now. It is a Kenwood H2EC system that has a home docking unit or car docking unit. Just take the receiver to what car you are driving or bring it in the house and listen. The receiver is not registered to a vehicle. Here are two links for a car kit and home kit:
