Does anyone have xm direct on their kenwood or equivlent radio. I searched the sat. radio forum and did not find anything. If you do have it, how do you like it.

Satellite radio kicks the crap out of conventional radio. I have XM, and will never not have it. I have a MyFi, not XM direct. Check out www.xm411.com or www.xmfan.com for more info.

I have XM direct installed on my Pioneer DEH-P4600MP head unit. Just got it installed today in fact, and I love it! It is so awesome.

If it all possible, go the direct route versus FM modulation. It is so much better!

Modulation really kills the quality. Hence, the reason I don't listen to my XM nearly as often anymore...

I know you all are talking about XM, but I have a dedicated Sirius setup with Alpine in my '02 and it was a huge upgrade over the AudioVox FM modulating setup I replaced. FM modulation doesn't sound as good since it has to basically rebroadcast the signal. I have always liked dedicated units (Had a Poineer XM setup prior to the Audiovox) since the sound goes straight through without the chance of interference from the outside. If you have an aftermarket stereo with an AUX input, or a cassette (I know, ancient technology there) try that and see if it improves the clarity...

There are multiple people I work with the have XM and love it, BUT all state that the FM modulation sucks. I just installed XM direct with a new headunit and it works good and sounds great. My number one factor was cost at this time, so I got a Dual CD headunit that was XM ready in a package deal at the local WalMart (on Clearance).
Sounds great. I like the interface on my Delphi SkyFi 2 MUCH better, but the cost was better for me and I don't have a SkyFi 2 sticking out of my dash. Also, I bought everything at WalMart, cheaper then Crutchfield or others online, such as wiring adapter and install kit. Very fast install, except for the XM Direct data cable that is only 2 or 3 feet long. I had to install the XM direct within that distance (bottom of dash on passengers side).

XM Rocks.

I hope to remedy this situation soon with a new little device that will convert the mini-plug out with RCAs so that I can run it directly into my factory head unit...

We'll see. I really hope it works for me. FM Modulation just kills the quality.
