Anyone tried this Adapter w/6 disc radio

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=756

Check out this link. It appears to claim the solution to the frustration I've been reading about. "FM Modulation on Satelite radio STINKS"

Has anyone tried this? I searched the forum on the part # and drew 0 results.

Let me know what you think.

I checked the link and their info was confusing.... one line stated you needed the rear entertainment & the other didn't, but it's late so I might be reading it wrong....
anyway, I didn't see f-150 listed in the vehicle pull down.... I wish it would, I hate the fm modulator.

keep us posted

I just checked it out, and if you click on the link in that page that identifies the plugs needed for that radio, it seems that that would be the right adapter. The plugs seem to be right for our application. I think an email is in order to PIE to see if it will work in our trucks.....

Good post!

Mine says "AUX", thus I don't think this is applicable.

From the original post's link:
2. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH RADIOS WITH AN "AUX" BUTTON, button must read "CD/AUX"

UPDATE:...unless you have the "CD/AUX" button...

Then right below that it says 4. Will not work if vehicle is equipped with OEM (factory) Rear Seat Entertainment system

Because if the rear seat entertainment system is present, the plug is in use and you have nowhere to plug the adapter in. If you have the 6-disc radio and no rear entertainment system option the plug for the option is available for use by this adapter.

With all due respect, having a RSES is only one of two criteria for using this adapter. The other is YOU MUST HAVE A CD/AUX BUTTON.

My radio (2005) has an AUX ONLY BUTTON, thus this adapter does not work on my head unit.

I’ve been discussing this with a good installer in my area and he says no. The later radio with the CD/AUX button has the compatible connector on the rear. I have the radio with only the AUX button and we have found nothing to work with this radio. I will have to bite the bullet and buy a head unit as I dislike the FM modulator.

Sorry if that came off as smartassed, I didn’t intend it to be. I was simply addressing the seemingly confusing comment in the product description. It could have been worded more clearly in that description. Perhaps it was intended for professional installers and not us laypeople…….

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried the hardwired fm modulators? I've been looking into them as a way to put sirius in my wife's 03 Mustang, since it has the 6-disc mach system. Is the FM modulator's crappiness from the modulation or from the antenna-to-antenna-through-the-air connection? It seems that if it is the latter, sending the signal directly into the antenna plug on the radio would significantly improve the fidelity.

Any experiences?

Sluys -

I had an 03 Mustang GT with the Mach 1000 radio. Blitzafe makes an adapter Ford/XM DMXDelphi 1C that will work with her radio if it's the mach 1000. I'm actually holding the adapter in my hand. I had it in my car for less than a month before I took it out when I traded the GT off for the FX4. This unit is for the XM radios but it connects through a set of RCA inputs. Shouldn't be that much different for Sirius. Check out www.blitzsafe.com

I just put one on 2000 Expy. It works great. No noise or static. I have the XM MyFi and the kit also includes the socket to stash the cig lighter adaptor.

As an additional not. I hid my antenna under the black plastic cowling at the base of the windshield and it works great.

You can find a hardwired FM modulator for the MyFi at BestBuy - it works well and is a great substitute for direct inputs. I have one on my 2005 F150 and wife's GX470. The only drawback: All radio stations are yielded useless while your XM radio is powered up.

I have an XM Commander and it is in line with antenna modulator. Fidelity is pretty good, CD's are louder but it is clear and now that I put the antenna on the roof I never lose signal. May I also recommend if you have the chance I bought the XM Commander because it was small and had enough features for me...I mounted it right in the ashtray in my 2005 F150 just by altering the mounting plate it comes with...I just ground down the outside and then gave it to the guys at circuit city and they did a good job installing...I have to say it is pretty trick looking and now when I am out of the truck I just close it and my console looks clean.

For those with an 04/05 with the AUX button, there's a new little goodie on the market that utilizes the AUX so you have direct input... no modulation.

Search PIE in the 04/05 forum.
