sirius vs. xm

As its is right now... It is my opinion that XM doesnt have a chance aginst sirius. I've had XM now for about three months. I liked satellite radio so much I had to have them both, so last week I went out and got the sirius recever. Since, I havent used XM not even once. Sirius is so much better, there are so many more good stations compared to XM. Its my opinion that if anyone is interested in getting satellite radio... go with sirius. dont even wast your time or money with XM!

Does sirius have a website or something where I can find out more, and get a better idea of what's involved and how it works, perhaps some local retailers where I can look and listen in person? The idea sounds great (as I sit here with the radio turned down for yet another screaming car commercial) but I don't have a clue where to go to get it in my truck.

Ditton on the Sirius -vs- XM comment. I too have both systems... Sirius by way of an add on tuner in my 04 F150, and XM as a factory option in my wifes Honda Accord.

While I like the clarity of the XM because it is built into the factory radio, that is the ONLY thing that I like better.

Using the FM modulator is a drag due to the occasional background noise, however the features on the aftermarket tuner combined with the vastly superior programming with Sirius makes the experience much better for me.

OK, I did the next logical thing and googled sirius. Guess what their website is? www.sirius.com
Looked around and it appears that I either need to add an fm modulator (whatever the hell that is) or else replace my factory stereo. So to get something half decent I'm looking at several hundred dollars just for a reciever.

Can someone explain a little what is involved so I'm not going in to talk with a salesman looking like easy pickens?

RockyJ,

Start with a plug an play kit. It has the FM tuner built into the satellite receiver. $100-150 for the kit. It works with any stereo by selecting a certain FM channel (preferably one that does not have another local station).

Check out this place to start: Crutchfield's Advisor.

APT-
Cool! Thanks a bunch. Looks like exactly what I need. I don't have time to read all of it right now but I bookmarked the page and will read through the site after work.

If it's really that easy, I might end up getting one for my dad as well. Nobody in Orlando plays anything even close to his preferences in music any more.

I just installed and activated my Sirius Sportster. I was surprised how easy it was to do. My F-150 is on order so I wanted a temporary install on my S-10 for a trip I am taking this week. The extra FM wire transmitter makes a huge difference. This is a great setup for anyone looking at a Sirius subscription.

I have used XM before and so far I am impressed with Sirius. The XM system was one of the earlier models that used a modulator so the new systems are much easier to install. It took about 20 minutes from opening the box to having it up and activated.

Another big advantage of Sirius is that they carry all the NFL games and a ton of college sports. Makes it an easy decision for me. I just hope Ford will be offering Sirius from the factory by the time I get an F150.

I have both and I love Sirius. I like XM but I only keep it for MLB.

Check out www.siriusbackstage.com for more info and questions.

The choice is dependent on the programming you want. Since sirius signed to carry nascar racing and has NFL as well for the time being.

The 2006 model will have that option.
