Which Sirius Receiver?

I am planning to install satellite radio in the F-150 I recently ordered. The XM Roady 2 looks like an excellent unit but Sirius Radio has more of the programming I would like to hear. What receiver would you recommend for a Sirius radio application in the F-150? The Audiovox SIR-PNP3, XACT XTR1 Stream Jockey Plug & Play, and the SIRIUS Sportster seem like the best options. Any opinions on these models?

Personally, I would go with a new head unit. For the cost of a PNP, then the cost of the cradles, car, home, ..... you could purchase a rather decent head unit, reciever and antenna.... especially on eBay.

BUT, if you have your heart set on a PNP... I would go with the Audiovox SIRPNP3. And most important!!!!! Be sure to get the FW Modulator hard wire!!!! Otherwise, these corldess fm mods just dont sound right/ youre depriving yourself true listening enjoyment. Im not sure if the other models or brands have hard wire fm mods though. Oh, another thing..... if you find an fm mod hard wire at a store, consider yourself lucky. I literally checked out 3 Besybuys, 3 Circuit City's, Fryes, and 2 Radio Shacks in my area for one...... NO ONE carries it. I had to buy it on ebay.

Honestly, theyre all decent. They operate similar. I know Blaupunkt and the new Kenwood have cool blue displays. Clarion has a cool green, and Jensen/ Audiovox, JVC have the amber.

GET THE HARD WIRE, what ever you do. Anyone who has listened to it without it, then with it, will agree with me.

Thanks for your advice Dizzead. I just bought a Sirius Sportster this morning at Best Buy. This week I am taking a long road trip and I wanted to get everything up before left. I was surprised how easy it was to install.

I did ask about the FM modulator but they said they would have to order one. Not wanting to wait, I just took the Sportster and figured I could add the modulator later. Well, I have to say the sound quality is very good without a modulator. The Sportster comes with a small, flexible FM transmitter wire, which plugs into the unit. I ran it up near the radio and so far so good. Compared to the FM transmitter on my MP3 player, the Sportster is much, much better.

It took about 20 minutes from the time I opened the box until the installed unit was activated. I plan to move the unit to my new F-150 once it arrives so I did not tuck in all the wires. I’m sure the permanent install in the F-150 will take much longer.

Thanks again for your post,
Tom
