Post No keys

Purchased a salvage 1998 F 150 for reconstruction and use on the farm. I have NO keys and after reading the posts re. P.A.T.S. I conclude that I most likey have the P.A.T.S. 1 system. I need to unlock the steering in order to move the truck around in the shop and ultimately I need to start the engine. All inputs are appreciated. Thanks

I would say you'd have to go to a dealer your the VIN and proof of ownership, or bring it in on a rollback. They should be able to make you one. It wont be cheap though.

Exclamation

agmantoo,

Read the posts carefully.

'98 F-150's do NOT have P.A.T.S.

Call your local locksmith.

Thanks 98fword, I have reread your 7-22-99 post more thoroughly and I was reading something into the post that did not exist. Your efforts and knowledge to generate the information is most appreciated. Since I have some information such as vin number and a computer build sheet (found under seat) is it possible for a locksmith to make a key without having to travel to my farm? What does a dealer need to generate a key? Thanks a million.

Cool

So, have a local dealership find out the dealership it was purchased from and call them with your vin number. They should be able to pull it up on their computer and give you the key code. They could even cut you a key just from the key code. You'll never even have to go to a locksmith. Or, once you have the code, you could just go to a locksmith.

The 98 models don't have the PATS system. Any dealer should be able to take the vin and pull the key codes, then cut you a key. Good Luck.

I HAVE KEYS! Thanks to all that helped. Kind of used a combination of inputs and got the key code and went to the local Ford dealer. Believe it or not, They made two keys as a courtesy. No fee!
