Question speedo error

I have a 97 F150 w/v6 and manual trans.
I have 16" wheels w/235/85r16 tires. I'm seeing about 10% error on my speedo. Can I correct this myself , or does it have to be brought in to my dealer? If a dealer repair, any idea on how much this would cost?

Curley Myers,

What type of error are you experiancing with the speedo?

If you have the same problem as I do, you will probably require replacement of the entire instrument cluster. My speedometer/odometer frequently displays YO , however, it still tracks mileage accurately. Ford tech's have ordered a new cluster for me, its come in, just waiting to line up a good day to bring my truck in for the fix...

-kindest regards

My odometer reads about 7% slow. I've got the 255/70/16 tires. It was a relief to discover it at an odometer check point, cause my real miles per gallon increased from about 15.5 mpg to 16.5!
