Post Daytime running lights?

Anyone know how to turn off the DRL's on a 97? Need to have them off, they are shining in the windows in the a.m. during warm-up and neighbors are being a pain about it. So I am not here to start a huge thread on the pros and cons of the safety of them, just need to know how to turn them off...thanks...Caryl

caryl, call and ask your dealer about the problem. Also tell your neighbors to "loosen up" ............some people bitch about anything.

Cool

My 98 had a fuse for them, it was found in the engine compartment, box on drivers side.
It was a small(in size) two blade, smaller then the ones in the incab fuse block.
Its law to have them here, if equiped, so I turn on my lights.

Anyone ever install a aftermarket DRL kit? I think they are a good idea.

I'm a little curious about DRLs as well. I've noticed an insurance discount is available in some states. If so, where and how much is the discount?

I notice one of you has a 97 with DRL. Is htat on a F150? How do you know if you have em and they have already been defeated. I have the auto lamp feature on my F150 but no apparent DRL system that I know of. Was it optional? Was it even available on a 97 F150? I don't see it on the sticker or in my option book for that year.

TIA

Phil

Answering my own question. DRL's in Canada. Required by law.

Bracketracer,

What amp fuse was that in your truck? And I wonder if they are pre-wired, kind of like the fog lamps or the multi-function odometer, and you just have to add the fuse to activate the feature? Nah! That would be too simple! Any thoughts?

Hey! Here's and idea for you. The DRL's only work when the switch is in the off position. If you turn on your parking lights the head lamps (DRL) will not come on. Then as soon as you head down the road throw the switch anywhere you need it.

Also, I can't find the fuse schematic but if I remember it is a specific fuse for this system. Making it too simple if so.
