Post winshield washer problems

I have a problem with the windsheild sprayers. They do not work sometimes when I activate the button on the turn signal. Its as though the connection is not there. Very fustrating when you need the winshield sprayed! Other times it works fine. Help!

How ofen do you use it on my mustang that I traded in for my truck would do the same thing if I haven't used it in a long time. Then it would work fine until I didn't use for a long time again.

This problem is common with the 97s only fix I have heard of is to get the whole turn signal arm replaced. If you are out of warranty you get to pay out of pocket in you are in warranty it should be covered. Had the same thing myself.

Mine does it too. I think the switch in the signal lever is intermittent. Sometimes my hazard lights don't flash until I try several times.

I have the same problem with my 97 and it's out of warranty. Does anyone know the cost of the switch through Ford?

How strange! I was just going to post on this subject. Mine works less and less frequently. I have to push the button 10 or 15 times. Any one with additional information, please post.

As time goes on it seems to get worse, that leads me to believe that eventually it will quit working all together.

I don't think this problem is only with the F-150. My 1997 Taurus SHO had the same problem.
I sprayed some electrical contact cleaner into the wiper, washer switch, it helped some, but still had to push it in hard to get the washer to work, and the delay you had to turn a few time to get it to work.

The part is called the Multi-Function switch. I purchased one for my dad, but I don't remember whether $50 was my cost or retail. I'm thinking retail was around $80. If you're under warranty, go, go, go to your nearest dealer. This is a known problem and there are service messages posted on Oasis regarding this problem. It's relatively easy to replace. You need to remove the screws from the steering column shroud. There are 2 torx head screws holding it in. Remove, unplug, plug in new and re-bolt. It is not necessary to remove the key cylinder, but it does make it easier.
