Body Recall

I got a letter from ford about my 04 fx4 and they mentioned something about a padding inside my side bed panel. Anyways, i was getting work done at my dealership and they told me i need to have the entire panel removed and a new one installed..so my truck will be in the shop for 2 days getting a body job....anyone else have this recall? I cant believe they are taking the panel off my truck to resolve the problem.

They install an adhesive sound-deadening pad before the pane gets e-coated. However, they had a bunch of them that were applied improperly, and there are air bubbles trapped underneath the pad. The metal against those air bubbles is, of course, unprotected by the e-coat and can rust through. We did some testing on those sections in the Central Lab. Glad to see Ford's being proactive about a problem for once!
