Compliance Recall 06C11

I received a letter from Ford today:

Ford Motor Company has decided that certain 2005-2006 model year F-150 and certain 2006 Mark LT vehicles fail to conform to the requirements specified in either Federal Motor vehicle safety standard No. 105 (Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems) or No. 135 (Light Vehicle Brake Systems)

What is the issue? Your vehicle was built with a software error in the instrument cluster. This error could prevent the Antilock Brake Systems (ABS) warning light from illuminating if the ABS module ever became inoperative.................Please note that this software error does not affect the function of the brake system.

What will Ford do: FMC and your dealer will recalibrate the instrument cluster in your vehicle to the latest caalibration level free of charge.

Anyone else get this???

Mike

Yes, I got that notice last week for my '06 XL F-150 V6. When I take it to the dealer next month for its first oil change, I'll have it recalibrated then.

This kind of pisses me off. I just bought my truck two months ago. Now I get a notice for this recall. You would have figured they would have taken car of this while it was sitting on the lot since Dec of '05...
