Ford F150 and solenoid

I would like to know if anyone has ever heard of any Ford F150 trucks started by the solenoid while in gear. I am trying to research this information where someone left the car in drive and went to the front of the vehicle and started it from the solenoid, resulting in the vehicle running over the person. Any information would be appreciated.

Im not sure, but If your going to attempt the same thing { trying to start a car while in gear using only the solenoid } I suggest you leave the car in REVERSE.

Although this is possible on some cars, Im not sure about the newer ones.

I dont think the computer will cause it to fire the ingition. I do beleive that cranking the starter with the Solenoid will cause the car to lurck forward while the starter is being cranked.

I cant find any reason to attempt this? Just seems like a really complicated way to hurt yourself.

Just stick your finger in a light socket. Its much easier on your starter.

Anyone who does something this patently stupid deserves to get run over.

Do you have any idea how many safety systems are being bypassed by doing this? Ignition interlock, brake switch interlock, transmission shift lever interlock, etc...

Engaging the starter motor manually from the starter solenoid is not a procedure that would be used by a typical driver, but rather, by either a mechanic or an owner that thought he was a mechanic.

FWIW, it sounds like you are a personal injury lawyer looking to make a quick buck due to someone's stupid action. If I ended up on that jury, you'd get nothing.

I've heard of it, but again, only while the owner was doing something stupid.

I've also intentionally done it myself on an older Dodge van.... the ignition switch took a dump when were were leaving Chicago, heading home to Detroit. So, I had the driver put it in park and turn the key on. I jumped the solenoid with a screwdriver (from underneath the van in the gas station parking lot) just to get her running again.

Again, to do so is bypassing all the safety features of a modern vehicle.
