Replacement parts still not in

I called my dealer today hoping to get my cruise control working again. He said "no dice, still waiting on parts."

RECALL PARTS

Same here! I was told that the West Coast will be the last to receive these parts, dealer said maybe late May? I noticed most people that have already had their recalls completed live back east or midwest. I don't quite understand why the rest of the country takes priority just because they are closer to the factory?

Parts allocation is based on the number of affected units in a certain region and/or how many vehicles a dealer's service department has disabled. If they've unplugged more switches than Joe Blow Ford down the road, they're likely gonna get more switch kits than the other dealer will.

Weird, I live in Alaska and mine was fixed on April 26th. I called the dealer about a week before that and was told they had gotten some kits in and they were gone already and to call back on Friday (4/22) I called and was given one of the 2 kits they had left from the newest shipment. Seems they're coming in in tiny shipments of 3-4 kits at a time and it's a first come first serve, luck of the draw as to who gets 'em.

Good luck and keep calling, eventually they'll get them all fixed. Hopefully they'll get all the currently disabled ones fixed before the recall begins on the other years, otherwise the current ones may get pushed further behind.

The parts allocation per region explanation makes sense, until I tell you that I live in Los Angeles. You can't drive 1-mile without seeing another F-150 around here! The get-in-line explanation is probably more applicable to my situation. What pisses me off is I've had my cruise disconnected for almost 2-months now & they screwed that up also. When I got my truck back from the dealer after disabling my cruise, my horn doesn't work now! I'm pretty sure they disconnected the wrong harness in the engine compartment, I just haven't had time to go back & show them they have no idea what they are doing! They disconnected the main harness instead of the smaller harness that goes to the sensor on the master cylinder. I sure hope I don't get into an accident with my horn not working because Ford disconnected it....that's a law suit waiting to happen!

New location of website about cc switch fires

The following websites are gone, but not forgotten.

flamingtowncars.com (about fires started by shorts in cruise control deactivation switches)

leakingfords.com (about hydrolocking/bent rods caused by leaking V-6 gaskets)

flamingfords.com (about fires started by shorts in ignition switches)

Their content is still available, at http://www.flamingfords.info

The new site also contains a section about cracking/leaking plastic V-8 manifolds.

I need to get copies of the following TSB's and letters. Need to have been obtained from a dealer, not from a re-publisher.

TSB 99-13-1 Title: Engine oil mixed with coolant/coolant loss

Well they finally installed the recall parts! It's been about 2-months I've had to wait. I did not receive a call from the dealer that deactivated the cruise, in fact I left 5 voicemail messages for the service manger & never got a returned phone call! When I took my truck to the dealer over the weekend, the service technician didn't even think they had the parts in stock. I had to tell him that I have a letter from Ford that says otherwise! After strong-arming the tech & telling him they unpluged the wrong harness to deactivate my cruise so my horn doesn't work almost two months ago, he finally said they would take care of it.
You would think Ford would want to take care of these issues as soon as possible...I think my local dealer just has their heads stuck up their A__ES so far they can't see any daylight!
I won't go back to that dealership ever again!

my postcard came last week

I just got my cruise back today after nearly three months of not having it...I honestly forgot just how much greater the M.P.G. are for all the highway driving I do. At these gas prices I am extremely grateful I got it back. Took an hour and the dealer was swamped so when you guys (and ladies) get your cards it wont take very long.

It took an hour for the local dealer to do mine too! I can't imagine why though; all they did was remove the sensor from the front of the brake master cylinder and plug a new connector to the existing wiring.

I could have easily done the job in under 5 minutes if I had the parts.

Oh well; at least it's fixed.

NetBob,

Did you watch them do the repair? The reason I ask is that I think there is a little more to it than that. I checked my FSM, and although I don't have it with me at the moment, I'm fairly certain it said that the master cylinder had to be bled during or after the switch replacement. i wonder if they actually did that.

Filling the brake switch with brake fluid using a medicine dropper or drinking straw negates the need to bleed the brakes after replacing the deactivator switch.

I still have yet to take the truck in to get it deactavated as i have been to busy to do so and the service manager is a jerk any way I never had a problem when i was living in a small town in West TN but now that I live in Nashville every time I gone to try and get sometthing done when I have the time I would have to leave it as there are so many in front of you I told him I don't leave it as I have always waited on getting things fixed before and that I never had this problem until I moved to a big city. But the funny thing is i got a letter the other day saying the parts are in for the fix at your local dealer and i haven't gone since i got the first letter saying to take it in to deactavat it so maybe if i can get it in they do the change and never go with out cruise like some of you have.

I replaced my own sensor, and never bled brakes. I did put a little fluid in the sensor before i installed it though. Took 5 min altogether.
