I suspect it was when they went to the servo-control for the cruise control.... probably for the '97 MY or there-about.

I've heard of claims by fire investigators, but they're not engineers, and I don't see how they could determine the ignition source from a pile of ashes and rubble that's been thoroughly power-washed by a fire hose. (ever seen one after it's burnt to a crisp?)

Is it possible that the 15A fuse in some vehicles can't protect from arcing that causes the fluid to ignite? Sure. That's why we're investigating it. All we know for sure at this point is that the ones that are recalled do not have a fuse to protect the wiring from a melt-down should it short out. The rest is all speculation at this point.

As I said before, if it makes you feel better, change it, fuse it, disconnect it, park it in front of the neighbor's house, or whatever it takes to make you happy.

Hmmm..................mine was not recalled and i could positively smell something burning when i parked it on two occasions. Open the hood and smell was coming from that area. If I didn't worry about it, It would've burned to the ground. Mine also did not show signs of leaking. FYI it is a 2001 F150 Lightning with 60,000 miles on it.

EXACTLY!!!!

People are quick to put blame on the dealer for ANYTHING!!! nobody took in question at the numbers of claims SINCE 1993???? are they actually serious?..lol

like what was said before, people do all sorts of retarded things to their vehicles, and for it to be blamed on a CC switch? no..makes no sense at all..

im sure of it they have had cases of GM vehicles catching on fire...BUT they didnt just get a family that TRIED to sue a whole company because he believed it was the vehicle that caught on fire....

im sorry but im a realist...i can go on http://www.safercar.gov/ and file a complaint for ****s and giggles....

i have had ford vehicles for a very long time...NOT ONE has ever caught on fire...now for 400+ vehicles to actually get reported SINCE 1993...that means there HAD to be on average 33 vehicles of all shapes and models to have been reported PER YEAR....considering how many makes and models actually didnt get reported or had this so called faulty CC? the percentage of YOUR vehicle of getting the so called faulty CC is so low...i dont even think its even worth worrying about...JMHO! and thats my take on this retarded *** recall...
