Removing track residue

Does anyone have any tips to get what I assume is track tar off? I kept breaking traction at the start line and doing mini-burnouts. Now one of my tail pipes is covered with the stuff and there is some along the inside of the fender flare too. I tried peeling and scrubbing it off the next day with no luck. That was about a year ago... Still not coming off when I wash the truck or try to peel it off.

1st try mineral spirits- it is the same as Bug & Tar remover & it will not harm the paint, etc. If that doesn't work, then move up to 3M adhesive remover.

I used to use WD-40. Bug remover works well too.

I have WD-40, so I'll give that a shot first. If not I'll see if the mineral spirits work.
