Raced a 95 5.0

I had to take my truck to work last night cause i had to bring my rotors off my DD to work to press the races from the wheel bearings out.

Well right before i take the turn to go to work a blue 94-95 5.0 GT mustang is pucking back and forth on me so i turn the OD off and play just a little with him. I roll my window down and tell him slow so the light turns red, we did. So i look over at him and say" im about to shock the **** out of you" he laughed. I bring the RPMs up a little, light turns green i jump 1.5 cars on him easy and continue to pull from him tell he was about 4-5' past my tail gate, he very slowly gained on me. When i hit 100MPH i let off. When i let off he was level with my tailgate. How fast are those cares soposed to be? Not sure of mods but did have exhaust

Last time i ran in the 1/4 i ran 88MPH so i know we did a tiny more than a 1/4 so i consider that my first true kill!

BTW i have a full size spare in the bed and a tool box with a bunch of crap in it.

Cant wait to go back to the track for some much lower personal best times.

Wayne

A stock 94-95 GT is good for a high 14 second 1/4 mile. If it's an auto, low 15's.

They make anywhere in the range of 180-200 rwhp and about 270 torque. The car weighs about 3500 lb's, unless it's a vert in which case it is heavier.

Sounds like your truck pulls!!

I've driven in those 5.0's, a convertible as well. A low 15? Are you serious, that DID NOT feel like a low 15 car, felt quite powerful.

Unfortunately, yes, I'm serious. They're turds in stock form

They're also a lot heavier than the Fox bodies they replaced, and they came with a bunch of emissions crap which also helped to lower performance.

oh that explains it, my buddy owned the old body style 5.0 stang. I have a buddy with the new body syle with a 5.0 in it and I can definitely agree with how slow that thing is. Does sound very throaty though.

Yeah thats the last year they offered the 5.0 and i do believe it was rated at 215hp & 285tq factory. They were turds, until you put some heads, intake, a decent exhaust and gears in them. Good kill thou.
