Cool running the 1/4

A couple quick questions....
1. When running your truck, do you remove your tail gate to reduse waight? Or is the areodinamic more important.
2. Is there anything else that can be removed to to lighten the truck to reduse time, outher then subs, spare tire, and maybe the tailgate.

Everyone has their own way of doing things. You just need to find what works best for you and your truck or car.

Cool

HI!... If your running slicks or drag radials then lose the tailgate. It weighs about 48LBS on a stepside. Spare tire is about 48LBS depending on tire size and make. Trailer hitch is good for about 44LBS. Remove your front sway bar. It allows your front suspension to come up farther and faster to transfer more weight to the rear wheels upon launch. It weighs about 22LBS. Fold your two huge side mirrors in when running. I gain 1MPH in the trap speed everytime I fold them on my F-150. If you have a 60/40 bench seat then you can remove the passenger's seat. It's about 60LBS I believe. Not sure on that one, I ordered my truck with bucket seats. Jack your tire pressure up to about 40-45PSI in the front tires. This creates less rolling resistance. Run with a bit more that 1/4 tank of fuel. Fuel is heavy.

Cool

HI!... Ya if your running street tires then don't go below 28psi. I hope you run faster than 15.5E.T. My bone stock 07 RANGER with 4.0L ran 15.58E.T completely BONE STOCK. Good luck on your runs.

Follow what Neal has said...

The only thing I disagree about is the street tire debate. My 295/45/18, I lower to about 23-25 PSI.. Anything over 30 and I just spin, spin, spin.. It's a street tire. It depends on the tire..

well a street tire being too low will cause a lot of resistance, run once while spinning and the other with low pressure, see how much your time changes

I always remove mine before I head to the track. It's easy to remove.. only take 10 MINS and I think it helps.. It lets the front end rise up a little bit higher... thus putting more weight on the rear tires and helping them stick.

Plus, it's weight removed..

I ran it as is because I wanted to see how fast it was as I run it on the street. Full spare, crap in the bed, and a few things in the truck. Needless to say it was slow.
