"Current Time"

Steve, I think I read when you went to the new set-up that you were showing the site clock in Zulu time (Greenwich Mean Time.)
That's fine with me, but it is then incorrect for the current time to state " 5:00 ET " when it is really 1:00 ET time and 5:00PM GMT.
Even more accurately, Greenwich time is always stated on a 24 hour basis, so 5:00 would correctly be 1700Z.
Perhaps it's a minor thing but it always makes your clock look four hours off when you show Greenwich time as ET. It makes the members look like a bunch of insomniacs when you see all these posts with times showing 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. ET when they were really only 9:00 or 10:00 pm.

not really sure what you are asking or saying but if youy go into the forum control panel (user cp) and pick edit options you can change to your local time zone to be displated as long as you are logged in

What I am saying is this: If you look just under the last post on a page it says, in a black box, "The time is now 11:58 ET (or whatever), when actually, right now, the correct time is 6:58 ET. Steve has the clock to show Greenwich Mean time (what military and airlines call Zulu time) which is actually the current time where the Prime Meridian (Zero Longitude) runs through the Royal Observatory at Greenwich, England, just outside London. I was saying that it is not correct to give Greenwich time but show it as ET (Eastern Time) It makes his clock in error by four or five hours, depending upon Daylight Savings Time.
See for yourself. You are in Detroit, Eastern Time Zone. Now look at the bottom of the screen. You will see that, though the clock claims to be ET, it is really several hours off because it is actually showing Zulu, or GMT (Greenwich Mean Time.) Hope that clears it up.
Ken

I've got problems here!

I'm having problems with the time. If I reset it to reflect the time here in MA it will retun to the default the next time I log on. I don't know if it's just me or what.
I am also having a problem when I post a reply. I am prompted to log on every time. Sometimes I will have to log on again after I've typed my reply to be able to send it. Again, I don't know if it's just me.
I know there have been some problems. I understand it takes time to fix them. I am not complaining. I come here just about every day. I really enjoy the forums. I just want to make sure it's not a problem with my cheap computer.
Steve, I wish I could help out fixing the problems but I am doing good just being able to type this reply. In less than an hour. I'm sure you are doing all you can do.
Problems and all this to me is the best site on the internet.
Thanks!
Tom

Kenster,

You need to click on the USER CP button up top, then click on user options then change your time to GMT -6:00 hours for Houston, TX. If you are not logged in you will get GMT. Take a look at logical's post...he said the same thing.

Maybe I am missing something but eight now mine says the correct time.

Kenster, I think I see the problem. You are 100% right. I too thought the ET time was screwed up. The problem is that the default is GMT, but shows a trailing ET tag to it as you stated. However if you go in and select ET time it shows the correct time but the ET or any tag is not displayed. Haven't tried yet but am curious if I go back and select GMT time if the tag will come back or if its just part of the original defaults that are overridden after you select a time. Think I'll try and let you know.

Thanks Blue Flareside you solved one of my problems too. Sometimes I am an idiot. I just didn't pay attention.
Anyone know if my logging on thig is a problem or just a case of me not paying attention to something?

The tag must be something left over from old board and did not convert 100%. When I went back to GMT the Tag did not reappear. But at least now I'm no longer waiting for the board to get the time right.

Site time

I did go back and set the clock in user cp. Even though I chose the Central time: -6 hours GMT, it still shows Eastern time. Actually, it shows my correct local time with the ET tag.
All you guys that responded that yours shows the correct time are in the Eastern Time Zone so naturally it will be correct. But it doesn't matter because no matter what time zone you chose it shows it as being Eastern Time.

the time is in the lower right corner of my screen at all times
my microwave has a clock
my oven has a clock
my vcr has a clock
my stereo has a clock
my thermostat has a clock
my Tv has a clock if i ask it to
my phone here on my desk has a clock
my sons watch is laying here on the desk
there is a little clock on top of the piano across the room
my pager has a clock

I clearly don't need a watch, and I very clearly don't need F150-online to let me know what time it is.

How about we just eliminate it completely?
