Just how slow can f150online go?

I'm wondering about the future of this website actually. I couldn't even get on this morning or in the afternoon. Now it runs intermittent at best. So what is going to happen with this website? I can assure you that the older members will hang on to the end but the newer guys are going to find a more reliable site. I've already seen some of the more technical guys post count down and frankly don't come by but ever now and then. I think F150online has a great bunch of guys here and don't seemingly have the kiddy comments or harassment going on. But the good is going to go somewhere else if things don't change.

Times a tickin man. I was pissed today trying to get on. I'm not going anywhere right now, but thank god I have other truck sites to post on. This is nuts and as much as those above RP claim to care, they have other sites and we are just one of the many. This is by far the best F-150 site on the net, the others do not get as nearly much traffic, have the knowledge, or the overall respectable attitude. Some people have been here for 10 year... 10 years!! That's crazy, but it goes to show you how much people like this site. Sooner or later people will leave because of this. I understand RP and the mods are trying so I am not bashing them by any means, but those above need to work towards this a bit better. It's like this site is the tin man and he is slowly getting stiffer and slower to move fluidly. Time will tell I guess

At 9.00PM CST there are 728 folks viewing this website. The highest number was in June 2009 with almost 1900 folks viewing. I'd say traffic has fallen by a lot already.

John, its not in the mod's hands, its in IB's hands. Internet Brand. It sucks ever since (i think mike) sold the site its been a steady down hill battle.

I know Pat... you might have misread what I wrote. I was applauding RP and those that are trying to push IB to move on this. I know it's out of their control. So aggravating. Time out this and time out that. Geez

It was Steve who owned the site, and yes it has gone downhill since as far as site performance is concerned.

IB has done good as far as improvements are concerned.

I'm glad it wasn't just me having issues this morning. I was getting really pissed off. I was trying to search the forums but wasn't able to get the info I needed.

No we don't pay them, but I still think we can grip, it is the quality of people and the knowledge of people here that attract the sponsors ad the advertisers. Without us there would be no reason for any of it. The site is slowing, it is frustrating.

Being as I use to run many "larger" forums such as www.msfn.org I can tell you their problem is running a large sql site using comcast business and dealing with a company such as mzima.net.

They need to relocate a site this big in a geographical location such as one of the Dallas datacenter, do some sql tweaks and maybe run the sql database on an external server. Their webmaster obviously has no clue how to properly setup DNS routing and optimize sql usage. Their datacenter/network has so much latency (100ms +) a turtle could run faster.

I know I've started to turn to other forums since this site loads 1/3 of the time.

Edit: this post took 7 tries to even get posted....lol

I'm thinking that, like a lot of websites, this one is on a shared server. Resources are shared between this one and, potentially, several other websites. If it's not on a dedicated server, it should be. If it is on a dedicated server, someone needs to feed the mice running on the treadmill some Red Bull.
