Why is attachment code off

Why am I not allowed to insert attachments in my posts? Is this why I can't insert images to my posts? Everytime I try, all that shows up is the HTML code or IMG code, and NOT the actual image! Can insert smilies from this site, but can't seem to insert images or smilies from anywhere else. Oh yeah, can't seem to be able to insert image to my sig either. Please help!

We are not allowed to post attachments. Why? I dunno, it's a management decision.

If you are trying to post images, you have to copy the appropriate code from your image hosting service, be it the internal gallery or Photobucket, whatever.

Thanks. I actually have been doing that and it doesn't work, but I'm gonna keep trying

Attachments are different from linked images.

We have no rules against posting linked images (within our T&C's), but you might find some outside sites will not allow their images to be displayed from other sites, i.e. hotlinking.

Attachments are actual files uploaded and stored in the forum database. We have never allowed attachments in the forums.

Easiest way is use the gallery - there are threads here spelling out in detail exactly how. The only other way is a photo hosting service that allows hotlinking.

Yeah, I guess I'll have to use photobucket.

FYI: You already have a f150online.com gallery. From a sizing standpoint, your f150online gallery will 'autosize' the photographs for optimum viewing in the forums. Photobucket, as you've probably seen several times on the forum, will not resize and, as such, you get some people posting ENORMOUS pictures that *REALLY* detract from the forums.\

Yo Mitch - here's a pic out of your gallery:

All I did was hit the "forum codes" link on the page that this pic was on, and copied/pasted the URL out of the popup.

Thanks Rock and glc. I must be doing something wrong cause when I try it, the url is there w/ the[img] tags around it and not the image itself. I'll keep trying on the test page. Btw glc, you would have to post my beat up rig instead of the nice one huh Just kidding, and thank you again guys!!

If you are starting a thread, or using the full reply page, make sure "Automatically parse links in text" is checked.

I think I finally figured it out. I posted in the test thread.
