Courteous or not?

I was just wondering if it courteous or not if I keep selecting the "Show your signature" check box on every single post? Or should I only do it once in per thread?

Jus' wondering..

General forum etiquette -- at least how I know and believe it to be -- is that one would add their signature to their first response or to the original post starting the thread.

Thereafter, it should not be used.

That said, I think all of us stray from time to time from that method but, in general, I believe that this is how it should be addressed. Then again, there are those who know this to be a common approach and still utilize their MASSIVE signature over and over and over within every post (multiples in one thread).

It was once stated that we will, at our discretion, trim the very large or obnoxious signatures from individual profiles.

Good question... Thanks for asking!

Hehe, Im one of those people that end up with their sig showing 14 times in a thread. I dont even bother to check or uncheck the "show my sig" box...just never think of it.

Every once in a while I will notice my sig is in a thread a lot and edit a few post to take the sig out though.

But...If you do remember it is nicer to only see some ones sig once.

Ok.

The reason I asked was because I noticed that my sig is kind of eye-catching with the transient color combinations. I was actually bothering me at one point today.

Thank you guys.

I admin a computer forum. We did a vBulletin mod so that someone's sig only shows once per thread and it cannot be overridden. I'm too lazy to uncheck the box here, but as my sig is a simple one liner, I don't think I'm being obnoxious.

What does bug me here is the excessive use of huge inline images. That's not courteous in my opinion. If I were on dialup, I'd go find another forum. On my forum, we do not allow images larger than 640x480, and restrict it to one image per post. We have also banned images in sigs. We encourage links instead of direct images, but we also allow attachments up to 100k filesize, 5 per post. I know you all want to show off your truck, but there has to be a better way than with 1280x1024 inline images.

You also need to change the "quote" system so a quote will not include all the images.
