reputation points are a system where if you find a post particularly helpful to you, you can click the little scale thats up in the corner of every post, and give them positive credit... If the comment was in poor taste, or for some reason you don't approve of it, you can give them negative reputation points for their post. the little green box next to your post count is a visual symbol of your reputation status- if its good, its green, if its bad, its red... the more positive points you get, the little saying changes, and eventually you get more little green boxes... you automatically start with 10 points- to check your points, click on the scale in one of your posts- like this one- and it will say that no one has rep'd your post, and your current count.

hope this was helpful to you

Justin
