SITE is SLOW (thread renamed)
I am doing some testing on this end, as I am seeing it too.
At times, pages load in 1-2 seconds. At times, pages take 17 seconds to load.
The database tables have been repaired & optimized. (90 minutes of downtime)
The server load is ultra-low - 0.58
The server memory usage is ultra-low - 2% of swap
(FWIW, 10am ET is EXCEPTIONALLY slow for about 15 minutes every day because we are doing a live database backup)
I have monitored approximately ten minutes of MySQL database activity and no queries are locking or being marked as slow. Since restarting the MySQL server, only 3 queries have been tagged as "slow" which is fairly normal for our server.
Now if I can only figure out how to diagnose if there is a hardware problem remotely...

Test your internet connection speed HERE
I'm having no problems. Here are my results --
Communications 6.8 megabits per second
Storage 767 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 1.3 seconds
Subjective rating Awesome!
Date & time Friday, December 16, 10:33AM*
Test type IDT4 Free
Connection type Cable
Region Virginia
Data size 1024KB
IP address 24.*0.***.4*
Note: The free speed test may only be used 3 times per month from the same IP address.

Ok, I've been poking around the rest of the site and everything appears to be loading normally, indeed very quickly one might say. I think the problem may be that our forum database is simply getting too large again and we may require another hardware upgrade...
I feel like I'm back on dialup today. My top two forums are both experiencing incredible delays. 15 seconds or more for each and every page to load. I feel like I'm in a vat of syrup.
Good reason to turn this dam computer off and go outside for a while.

I did the test and it said my "cable" connection is working @ 200.9 KB per second.
The 10MB download took 41.3 seconds.
Performance rating= mediocre

I've been having alot of lag since yesterday. Sometimes it takes about 15-20 seconds or longer for pages to load. Hell, I can't even log onto the gorancho.com website, but I went there multiple times 3 or 4 days ago. I didn't have any problems getting on that website then??? I think it's due to the extremely high rate of "Holiday Online Shopping" going on over the Internet this merry time of the year. :santa:

I just order another 1GB of RAM for the server (actually 2GB since it has to be bought/installed in pairs and the server is out of free memory slots).
Hopefully, people will be able to tough out the poor performance until the middle of next week when it arrives. (and I find time to get to the datacenter to install it)

So what was it that happened between yesterday and this morning that made the site go from very quick to molasses slow? It's like someone flipped a switch or something. My limited understanding of computers tells me that a memory filling up would cause a gradual slowdown as the system reached capacity, not an abrupt change like what happened here today.
The thing is that the site did not slow down, the forums started to slow down. The forum database is over 8gb in size, so it's MO has always been to grind to a halt when it runs out of resources, without any warning. The remainder of the site (db is about 500mb) is just as fast as ever.
That accounts for yesterday. The day before was internet latency and I have the traceroutes to demonstrate that. This morning, while few people are on the forums, navigating around is quick.
