Sub-forum YES

Due to the generic classifieds on F150 Online which is a pain to go through, I'm spending more and more time on NLOC and less and less time on this site. It's really a shame.....

the question has been asked and answered a number of times in the Questions about the site forum

Which is where this thread has been moved to by the "arrogant moderator."

This decision was made by the webmaster 5 or more years ago - Address your complaints and vitriol to him.

these guys are good... enjoy thumbing through dumb classifieds with no way to quickly organize or browse them... Like I said, their stuff don't stink and they won't listen to us Lightning owners who ruin the boards

As Doug said...this issue has been discussed numerous times. We have intelligent reasons for this policy and it is not going to change or be debated publicly again.

could you be so kind to share these intelligent reasons. Some of us would be interested to know to further sooth our quest for the ultimate closure on this error of reason

As I said, I do not intend to get into yet another public debate about this, but I would suggest searching this forum for the term "classified" and you will find several discussions to sate your cravings.

the good duys over at nloc read this forum (big d)

big d just booted me off the nloc again

SERIOUSLY he really booted me off again!!!!

big d is still butt hurt over the classified section he has. i ran a ad awhile back that stated BEST OFFER. some of the resident classified trolls got all pissy calling it a "AUCTION"

big d emailed me an said he does not allow "AUCTIONS" in the classified. i tell him its cool, but why does everyone else have the same best offer in thier ad?

he responded with a bit of anger and said he doesnt allow "auctions"

i reponded with a post in the classified section from nloc's moderator that stated the EXACT same thing my post stated

he was pretty butt hurt over that. LOL

i called him a jackazz if he thinks the two posts are any difrent

since then he follows me like a troll

Out of all the sites i'm on, i've never seen classifieds listed like these are, it does make it more difficult to find certain items your interested in. And contacting a person is not as easy, you can't just reply to the add like all the others. But i guess there are reasons it's like this, and can't be changed.

Haha, nothing like getting treated like dirt! Don't forget bubba, we make you, you don't make us! With out our traffic here, you guys get no ad money. A little respect isn't too much to ask. Don't be so blind when you say you have discused this years ago. Years ago, when I bought my truck, I typed lightning into google, and got nothing more than pictures of electricity in the sky. These trucks have come a long way, and so should our support. YOu have a great forum here, I don't think its too much to ASK for better organization. Atleast a civil response with reason would have been nice. Some people with low bandwidth (like me, floating around on a ship) don't really enjoy the wading through the search button, espesically after working 16-20 hrs a day. Good night!

Whether they care to admit it or not, the majority of Lightning owners on this forum want a classified section dedicated to Lightning owners because they have never, nor ever will, venture outside of the Lightning forum on this site. I know this because in several instances where we have removed classifieds posted on the forum and told them to use the classifieds, their response was on par with "I did not know the classifieds were there." Once pointed there, they were happy.

Haha, nothing like getting treated like dirt!
This goes both ways and you have been around long enough to know that. If you want courtesy and respect, don't call a moderator arrogant and expect a reply that is civil, because it does not merit such a reply and never will.

And, don't be so arrogant to think that without you this site would not exist. You do not "make us" and making any suggestion or demand with that in the forefront of your mind will always end up disappointing you. Lightning owners are not the sole visitors to this site, despite what some people think, and they are not our only focus.

This site was launched as F150online.com in April 1997. This was after nearly six months after starting the first email discussion list for 1997 Ford F-150 owners in November 1996. We created the first online forums for 1997 to present F-150 owners. This was three model years before the Gen II Lightning even existed. Because it was a variant of the F-150, we may have even created the first ever sub-forum for Gen II Lightning owners online...but don't quote me on that. We even got "the scoop" on the new 1999 Lightning before they hit the street. Anyone remember this article?

Are Lightning owners a large group here? Yes. Are they the only group? No.

In fact, none of our banner advertisers are solely Lightning product providers. We have a classified ad area that is free for you to use. We have forums that are free for you to use. You are welcome to make suggestions on anything around here, but when we give you legitimate reasons why things remain the way they do, extend us the courtesy to at least understand why they are that way instead of calling us "know it alls" or "arrogant."

We co-exist and make each other equally. Want proof? We heard the Lightning forum would die when NLOC added photo galleries. It didn't. We heard that F150online would die when everyone from Texas went to FTW when it was launched. It didn't. We heard that the site would die off because of "vendor bias" as a result of our Supporting Vendor program. It didn't. We heard all the time that "if you ban so-and-so" people will not come back. They did.

This site continues to grow every day. We have the largest audience of 1997 - present F150 owners online. Period. We now have the largest audience of 2004 to 2006 F150 owners online. Period. We were the launching pad for the King Ranch Owners Club. We were the launching pad for Ford's internal enthusiast website support group. We have continuous contact with Ford truck marketing and their full unofficial support.

Will there be a reduction on the number of Lightning owners on the forum in the near future. Yeah, probably. Production is ending. There are a lot more alternatives for owners out there now. That's a good thing for Lightning owners. If one site does not satisfy you, you have a choice.

Despite what some people think, this site is not all about money. It is, however, all about making enough money to continue operating. And as Lightning owners (or Harley owners, or King Ranch owners, etc.) drop off or go elsewhere, there will be sufficient audience to replace them. It's a natural ebb and flow of running and enthusiast community and something that we have to deal with.

Things are good here and I look forward to the next nine years of running this site...regardless of who happens to be visiting.

I have attempted to come up with a compromise solution to ease the stated difficulty in being able to locate Lightning specific parts in our current classifieds system. This solution does not aim to appease those that are making the request simply because they are not willing to leave the Lightning forum.

I have added several new classified categories and enhanced the search capability to narrow the search by category. These new categories break down Trucks Wanted & For Sale and Parts Wanted & For Sale into subcategories for general makes and models, including 1997 - 2003, 2004 - 2006 and Lightning.

This should alleviate the #1 complaint cited for wanting a change to the classifieds.

It is now time for me to go to sleep.

DEFINITELY - I have so much from my 02 to sell that it's not even funny - headlights, corner lights, gas tank, original CD radio (if I still have it), etc. etc. Would try Ebay but I don't feel like paying $10 in fees to sell a $12 item.

Dont read anything into my response that isnt there. I simply stated the facts. No slant, just the facts. Dry, Blunt, direct to the point.

You attacked me and the other moderators by calling us arrogant - I made no such rude generalizations about you.

I moved the thread to the right section - Reminded you that the answer had already been provided a number of times by the Webmaster in that section. And asked you to focus your anger/chip at him since he makes the rules that we live by and the I help enforce.

Have a nice day

Doug
