sorry i didn't see this sooner this site is the best and i tell anyone i can to go to it!!!! i know it would be for you bennifit for FORD to take over but as said earlier it is better that they don't because corperate control would make a bias site...here you can question fords products and practices and get an open honest answer ...i'm not a basher and don't want to be but i want true info first not info that makes ford look good first and the customer second.........

Steve, let me start by saying - "YOU THE MAN!" The priceless information that I have received from this websight has saved me hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in the past 1 1/2 yrs. or so. Obviously, I have TAKEN alot more than I have GIVEN. The opposite is true in your case. You should be proud of the accomplishments you have achieved. Most of the members here can only dream of the rewards that you will someday receive because of your unselfishness, dedication, and HONESTY. Let me say THANK YOU, Mr. Webmaster, and to all the loyal members of F150 Online.

P.S. GO TITANS

FREAK OUT!!!!!!!!!!

Just to let you know, I too never used yahoo!
I always use altavista. I think I can speak for most people when I say I will never check out a f150 site created by ford or yahoo. I mean the person who will be incharge of that site will probably drive a BMW!!!

Any way as far as that 40% goes, I can't argue, you probably have it on black & white. But does word of mouth count in this type of business? And By now you must have tones of links coming from amature (or smaller) sites.

Maybe you have been nocking at the wrong door, did you try an alliance with AOL?? I don't know, I'm far from being an expert on this subject and please don't be insulted if my sujestions are stupid. If ford slaps u in face, kick them in the ***.

Heck if no one goes to that new site, you will be laughing. I risk repeating what other people say, but this place rocks... I love it and I wouldn't want it to dissapear.

I wish you the best of luck, Steve.

Cool

Well what else is there to say, Thanks Steve. I'm a little late reading this post, but I had the same fear I had last april fools day when I saw that disturbing news. Fortunatly then it was only a joke, I was worried about it this time. I can understand how you feel with Ford shutting you out, but this site is about much more than Ford trucks. No where in any other form of media can you get the real information that is shared on this site every day. I have displayed an "f150Online" decal on my truck for months now, and will be ordering more to give to every F-150 owner I meet. I hope that the pride and joy you found in this site early on will return, this is IMO the best site on the web. Thanks again for an outstanding place to come and meet good people.
Jeff

Ford should use this site as a useful tool for designing their trucks based on the feedback from people here. It can only help Ford, not hurt them.

Steve If I were the owner of Ford Motor Co. I would want to close down your (our) site if at all possible. After all if it were not for F-150 on line how many customers would we have been able to fool into believing there are no piston slap problems and we surely would have saved millions on door crack problems. Not to mention if not for F-150 on Line we could just continue to screw our customers individualy and who would find out. I would be willing to bet most members found out about piston slap and door cracks here------How much money is that costing FOMOCO because of the information here. Speaking of me personally everytime I start the truck I listen for a knock, everytime I open the door I look for a crack and I will have a wheel alignment before 12,000 miles because of the $150 worth of shims needed. If FOMOCO owned this site do you think any of this information would be available here-----------Thank you Steve, you are my friend

Steve,

Have you offered to do market research for them? I'm sure the members here wouldn't mind filling out a survey or such every month or so to keep the site online. Also, it may cause a confrontation, but I do think that not allowing FMC access is a good idea. They shouldn't profit from your hardwork without chipping in. I can't believe that Ford doesn't realize what a resource they have right here. Maybe they are just intimidated because some of the people here know more about Ford trucks than they do and are much more honest. If Ford would belly up, this site would do nothing but help. They could even point prospective customers to the site as a place to get more information (honest, friendly, and unbiased) or as a kind of compliment to their own customer service. Oh well, some bussiness will do the right thing and use the internet to its fullest advantage and then Ford will kick itself for listening to their marketing department and not their customers.

Steve,
I have been coming to this site since about august when I got the new truck. The site is awesopme and we (the Members) will; do what ever we have to do to keep the site open. I belong to the Metallica Fan club and pay 45 a year for three magazines and a web site that is as stale as year old bread. I would definately pay if I had to, just to keep this site here it is awesome as you can tell from the response that your original post has given. Everybody knows that Ford would not let all of us voice our concerns either positive or negative. Thanks for all the help and please don't give in........Steveo

Just to voice my oppinion, this is the only Ford site worth visiting. I know I looked(before I found this). The thing is that people dont really care what the f**k Ford has to say about our cracked doors anymnore than they care what we say. My dealer is just the place to buy parts. I didn't even buy my truck from a Ford dealer. They are F**kin JERKS. They are corperate America. We are only dollars to them. they dont care that most of us love our Trucks like children. Some of us spend more time under the hoods or on the floor under the truck than they do. If I want to know about a good upgrade then I will come here not FORD.COM.

People here are not afraid to tell you there oppinion. There is alot to be said for a place that we can do that. I do work on vehicles at the local Ford dealership. To tell you the truth I believe "We the people of F-150 online" more than them. When I took mine in for door cracks they told me I was the only one, and that i slam my doors too hard. To them I say F**K OFF! We know more than they do.

It just amounts to Ford sees this as dollars. They dont recognise the people who do the work. People like Steve, cphilip, capn america, kelly, blooddog, mike, and many many others whos mane appeares over and over on here(sorry if I left you out cant put all on here...). This is what makes this site so good the people. Not Ford they just gave us something in common(and not so common)

Good Luck and hang in. We are EVERYDAY and NIGHT!!!

Actually Ford should be thankful that this site is here.
How many undecided truck buyers have we convinced to buy Fords?
I'll bet the have sold at least 100 trucks from the free advertising they get from this site.

I dont have enough time to be visiting two web sites! So I know I'll be sticking with F-150Online. We need to promote it more to friends and other Ford drivers.
They can start their own site but we don't have to visit. I'm happy with what we have!

I LOVE THIS SITE!

first of all, i would like to thank steve for the best site on the net, no one can belive that a site exists that doesn't either slam fmc or shove the ads for them down your throat.
a corp site could never replace f150online. we all first came here because we have ford trucks, but we stay because this site has many things to offer that no corp site could ever replace. REAL people, REAL opinions and REAL solutions to problems. but above all that we also have a lot of fun with discussions that have nothing to do with trucks. what do you look like, what color eyes...etc.even the occasional heated debate is allowed. this is a real family i know if i ever see a truck with an f150online sticker i will definitely chase them down ( hope it aint no lightning) just to say hi and meet a family member in person.
this may sound naive but if going to court became necessary would it help to have all your members help. not necessarily in person, how about written depositions stating our opinions. i think most here would do whatever we have to in order to help you out.after all this is our site also. we practically live here virtually speaking.
as far as membership dues i would be more then willing to pay an annual membership to be here. considering the real info available here and the fun had it would be a pleasure to send that check in.
i think we should all remember that, even if there is no personal gain for steve, if fmc is monitoring this and improving their trucks because of it then we all profit from this by having trucks available with changes that we asked for. granted this won't help steve financially but you have had am impact on a major manufacturer. that's definitely something.

I was wondering when this site would be silenced, I mean after all, Fords not making a dime, and this many people can't be freely discussing their truck without money & propaganda, can they ? Keep the site! It sure would be nice to see them loose for once.

Cool

I for one am glad you have decided to keep this site open. I'm not a Ford follower (had a deal I couldn't pass up on my 97 F150 king-cab 4.2 5spd that I bought in Jan of 1999) A friend of mine told me about this site and I found it without Yahoo's help nor Ford's. Keep on keeping on Steve. I was going to say I'm the newest member that had reply but I think that goes to a few post above me. If I was not leaseing this truck, you bet this site would be one that I would visit daily. If not for the information but for the good old fashion conversation this site has. (like the good old days when things were done with a hand shake, and a promise was just that) Heck it's better then my chat rooms I visit, very honest and VERY HELPFUL. Thanks again for staying on, and YES I'll pay too if that what it takes to keeps this a HONEST SITE.
