OK people what does "SC" mean ?
I've heard 3 different answers
standard cab
short cab
supercab
I always thought it meant supercab
Lets break through the confusion please

Well, It's my understanding that it means "super cab". But with others it could be different.

Just as a side note, SC is also used by 99.5 Lightning owners to denote a supercharged engine. They, of course are all standard cabs (SC) which just adds to the confusion, but I think few of us use SC in any configuration in our profile signature.

FYI, Ford doesn't use the term standard cab when referring to their non SC model. They use the term Regular Cab. The other cab model besides the SC would be the Crew Cab. No more confusion. SC or S/C on a lightning would obviously be a supercharger, since the lightnings only come in Regular Cab, For now. (no, I haven't heard any rumors)

wouldn't you know those lighting guys would have to be different. I guess that's why they bought those lightings in the first place and yes my truck is a supercab SC

You are one of the reasons I pull up this board several times a day. You are correct, the Lightning folk are different. We all paid a ton of money for our trucks and then we have this complex that they may not be fast enough and stumble all over ourselves trying to find chips/air cleaners/exhaust systems and goodness knows what to make them even faster.

Then, we insist on calling them 99'5s and I suppose we also want to include the SC moniker to denote our superior engines (note no quote marks).

If it makes anyone feel better, I would denote my Lightning as an SC for a totally different reason. SC in the case of my Lightning qualifies to describe "small cab".
The seats take up so much room that you have no room for anything else. Not a complaint from my side, but Pat hates to ride in it. There is no room for anything, period.

To close, let us not get too far into "RC" denoting "regular cab". If you will check my postings, a lot of guys are looking for radio controlled 1/10 scale Lightnings and I am trying to accomodate them. The way it is going, RC is going to denote radio controlled, not regular cab if this continues.

Where is Raoul when we need him? He stays off the Lightning threads and I miss him.

Tina, stay with the Lightning folk; they are really crazy, but a bit of fun as well.

Enough of the 99.5.
If you have a Lightning just say Lightning.
We all know Lightning is supercharged so forget SC for lightning.
It's bad enough that you leave us in the dust, but do have to rub it in?
I think there are some 99.5 listings that are not lightnings on here.
My truck was made in 6/99 so isn't it a 99.5?

OK, I give up.

Maybe I should just say for the Lightning group; 99 Lightning VET (very expensive truck) and let it go at that. In my defense, I ask you to remember that my family also have a full boat Ranger SUUUUper Cab, a 98 Continental and I traded a 96 Taurus SHO in on the Lightning and none of those vehicles cost us anywhere near sticker price. I'm sure it is some sort of defense mechanism for us Lightning buyers to justify paying list/list plus and full price for options taxes and the rest. That's why we tend to be a bit braggy. Of course, we are also concerned about the Silverado SS and whatever Dodge may come up with to shame our, for the moment, king of the hill trucks.

Dollar for dollar, I am beginning to think that a lot of the standard engined trucks with exhaust/air filter mods/superchip or equivelant are an awful good value for money buy.

Stand by, a lot of Lightning owners are going to skin me alive! But, that's part of the fun isn't it.
