Counting Posts
Counting Posts
Webmaster -
I was just wondering how you go about counting posts?
While I was forum hopping today, I just happened to notice that I have at least three different posts over the last five months and all three say I have 97 posts.
07-04-2003 Wheels & Tires 97 Posts
10-10-3002 Regional Forums/Mid-Atlantic 97 Posts
11-15-2003 King Ranch Forum 97 Posts
What gives? Am I never to past the magical "100 Posts" mark? Not really a major issue but when you see guys with thousands of posts, you wonder how they got there if you can't get past 97.
Thanks -
Al

Hey Al...
The post count that you're seeing in the area to the left of your post is actually a cumulative post count. In short, each time you post in any forum outside of General Discussions, it tacks one more post on to your count. Hence, after this post, you have 98.
So, each post that you've left behind wasn't your 97th post but rather that's where you stood overall on the site.
Also, mind you, that some site maintenance occured recently that caused a good majority of the users' post counts to drop significantly.
Hope that clarifies it a bit.

Actually, no posts are removed. The post counts are redone taking into account whether or not posts in a particular forum are counted. For instance, if I were to turn post counts in the Gen Disc forum back on and re-run the same maintenance, your posts would go back up.
