93' F150 looking for Tranny Options..
Hey I have a 93' 5.0 with a 5 speed tranny. Im gettin so sick and tired of replacing damn slave cylinders every 2 years I dont know what to do. Is there any aftermarket trannys for this year that are good, or how hard would it be to switch to an auto.. the E40D seem to hold up pretty good. any help is appreciated.

Going from auto to manual is easy, going the other way isn't worth it. You would need a tranny computer, wiring harness, steering column, radiator, flexplate, pilot bearing, etc to make it work, probably have to change some mounts around too. Why is your slave going bad every 2 years? Are you buying cheap auto parts store slaves? Go to the dealer and spend the money on an oem unit an it should last 5-10 years. Also make sure your clutch fluid isn't getting exposed to air and absorbing water.

yeah i am guilty of buying from autozone.. a 40 buck cut from ford.. but i guess i could try ford. i have checked my clutch and no probs. what if i got an automatic witha floor shifter? still to much trouble? i love a stick but im just getting tired of the **** with this one.
That would save you the trouble or finding a steering column with the shifter but theres still all the other stuff. Really the only way to do it would be to buy a junk truck with an automatic that you can take all the parts off that you need.
