Extending O2 wires for full length headers

I just put on a set of full length Heddman Elite headers.I needed to extend the 4 wires that the O2 sensor had.The old headers had the O2 bung in the header itself,at the collector.Instead of drilling into my new headers i decided to put the bung in the exhaust pipe about 8" further down.
So i cut a 4 pieces of 14 gauge wire aprox 20" long and soldered/heat shrinked all the connections.
Do you guys think this may affect the readings the O2 sensor may receive?

Thanks.

As long as you did a good job soldering and taping it up it will work fine. Just make sure the wires are tied back out of the way so they don't touch the exhaust pipes and melt.

Yeah sounds like it would work, just do like Ford4ever said and keep those wires away from the exhaust pipes.

It ought to work. It just might take a few more seconds getting into closed loop because its further away from the heat source, but still should be hot enough to work correctly. Check the voltage with a dvom(digital volt/ohms meter) if you're in dought, it should switch rapidly between approx 200 mV and approx 900mV. O2 sensors generate their own voltage to send to the computer, 0-1volt. Not sure which of the 4 wires are volt and ground, check your manual.
