squeeking noise

When the truck is at idle (and when it is colder outside) there is a squeeking noise coming from the engine. On light acceleration it gets worse, on hard you can't hear it.

It sounds like something that is moving...like a fan or a belt..What do you think?

Pete

PS- It pretty much goes away once the truck is warmed up.

i had somehting similar and it ended up being the bearings on the alternator pulley that just needed to be serviced.

My belt tentioner squeaks sometimes, sometimes its the belt. Use a long screw driver as a stethescope (yes, put your ear right on the end of it) to try and pin point your noise. Make sure you don't slip and stuff it into something spinning! Most of the stuff on the front of your engine is easy to fix, most.

The truck is being fixed as I type this. The problem was the fan belt and fan clutch. The fan clutch was wobbling and the belt was beat up pretty bad. I saw them both with my own eyes

Thanks for the help everyone!
