where does the h2o come from

Had to take my truck in for some body repair due to rust

Garage said the lower rocker panel has a foam rubber insert that held the h2o that caused the rust

Thay have cut the medal out and are repairing it but I would like to know if anybody knows how the h2o gets in as Iwant to seal up the source

Garage didn't know and I went to the local Ford dealer and they were no help

Rust is in the XXXX area in the pic but on the drivers side

I have heard of moisture leaking in though the seal in the window and rotting out the rocker panels. I don't know it it's true but every old truck i see is rusted out right there, mine is starting to rust as well. What i am going to do after it is fixed is coat the inside of the rocker with some Por-15.

I just got mine fixed in the same spot too. It's strange and I also have no idea why it happens.

The garage has coated it and is waiting for the metal replacement strip . They cut the rocker strip out
I asked them to put drain holes in new strip

They suggested the window also but it sure looks and feels tight to me

Well it took 10 years for the problem to show up so I guess I can't complain too much

My current truck had rust there when I bought it. I cut it out and welded in new metal. Then before I painted it I drilled some small holes underneath to let the water out.
While I was in there I also cut out all of that foam that I could get to. I think the foam is just a sound dampner, but I cant tell any difference without it.
