4x2 to 4x4 96

ok i have a 96 4x2 and im making it 4x4 ii hav i complet 89 4v4 302,aod now the 96 has what tranny??? that is my problem can i just pull the tail stock off and put the t-case on????? the ret is easy a can do the in a weekend its the t--case that has me stoped dead so what do i do

If this is what you are asking, Ive been told that the output shaft is different itself, so you can't pull the tail stock of and slap on a transfer case. I asked several people including a reputable tranny shop, but never tried myself. If this is not what you are asking, I have no clue. Make sure you put new wheel-joints in the front axle while you got it apart. (I assume you know this, but it will save you from taking apart the hubs down the road)

I believe the 96 is an e40d tranny. Either way the output shafts are different, you need to disassemble both trannies and switch the shafts.

hmmm well im going to get my old 89 going then it only has like 390,000kms on it well its go to run agine hehehe up it goes then.

anyone have some ideas for and 89 f-150???needs more power i was thinking a cam to addsome more power and and some head porting what do you think??? i need to beat a 2000 318 dodge in pulling,, the dodge is a 318 auto,4x4,ex cab and my ford is a 302,auto, reg cab and both trucks are stock right know.

The 302 shoud do pretty good against the dodge 318. The right cam will definitely give you some low end torque for pulling. Unless your pulling on pavement he will beat you with the 4 whell drive.

well im going to sell the 96 and fix the 89 up i'll build a 302 or a 351 in the winter that way i don't have to do that much tranny work, the 89 looks better anyway
