Ignition upgrade

I guess since I want to install a blower soon, I might as well upgrade the ingintion right now. What should I do? Get an MSD 6AL ignition box, new spark plug wires, new spark plugs, .. ??? what else. What type of wires should I get, and what type of plugs?

as far as plugs, ask the manufacturer of the blower you want.

I went with a Jacobs due to the return policy. Either way you go get a box, coil and wires and make dure the rotor and cap are in good shape.

I've had great luck with the Champion truck plugs, and the Autolite Plats worked well too. Before blower you can gap big, I usually run .065 or a .070 with the plats.

Blower will dictate a different plug and smaller gap. They will usually recommend a specific type and heat range, along with a gap to use.

Make sure the ignition system you get has a plug-in boost operated retard feature. Both MSD and Crane have this, don't know about Jacobs or others.
