Thumbs up beefing up a 300 6

hey guys,

I would like to do some mods to my truck's engine (4.9L 300 I6) I'm really frustrated that it's slow friggin slow and I think I can it has alot more potential than what it does now. I understand and realize that 300 6's are not the fastest engines you can find but I think mine can do better than what it does now I was thinking of doing stuff to it like porting the TB and intake and throw some bigger injectors, not sure the size yet. Hey if any of you have some suggestions or what to do you can throw at me , I'm all ears.

Intake...Possibly FIPK or homemade one, exhaust, poweraid makes a good TB spacer(or make one), Electric fans, flux campacitator, gear swap(possibly), and super chip.

High compression pistons, performance cam from clifford, bigger injectors, ported and polished head with larger valves is a good start. It is rumored that there are superchargers/turbos available for them as well.

I've found that the majority of the parts for the 6 are for the carbed version. The six is a great engine but it will never really work for racing because it won't rev high enough. It's great as a truck engine though you just need to mess with the gearing and a few other things to take advantage of its monster torque. Basically i think of my inline 6 as a diesal engine that just happens to use gasoline, because thats just how it acts.

do what ford4ever said. The "lack of performance" is, like other inline sixes, rather close bore-to-stroke ratios.
