Ahhh, so thats what happens when you blow up a 2000hp nitro-methane burning V8....

I assume the driver was ok? I've seen engine grenade like that in person but you never see the detail that's in that picture, really cool.

2000HP ? try over 6000. Those are radical machines, no doubt.

That is a really cool pic! Kinda scary if you were the driver though.

The total horsepower is actually closer to 800.

Per cylinder.

Take care,

That would have been Del Worsham or Johny Gray of team CSK.

I am a FC nut, I own an Alky FC, but nothing compares to a NITRO FC. This is about .5 seconds after the green light, they dropped a valve in the head and KABOOM, over 100,000 large to fix. You say 100K, how, well here is a quickl price list

TXF block $8000.00
Heads $8,000.00 - $10,000.00
Crank $3,500.00 - $5,000.00
Blower $5,000.00
Injector (Hat) $5,000.00
Rods and Pistons $5,000.00

Thats just for the big stuff..
Del and his dad Chuck Worsham are a top notch team. They are very good, but this sorta thing happens to everyone, when you try to push something to 4.5 seconds and 325 MPH in the 1/4 mile, something is gonna give.

And Chris is right, about 800 HP per cylinder. The Alky FC's are 2000 HP total, but if you run a Nitro car on Alky, it gets the same HP as a ALKY car, it is all NITRO baby!

Justin

Justin (West Coast), a Jet FC only travels at about 260 MPH, about 75 MPH tooo slow to catch up with a Nitro FC...

Thanks for the info!

I knew it was Del, and it's the maroon car, so it had to be the last half of this season, but I can't find any listing of info about when and where this happened.

Isn't it the most killer pic though?!?!? perfectly timed. A half second either way and there wouldn't have been anywhere near that much flame.

Makes a great desktop wallpaper, too!

Take care,
~Chris
