Rear Brakes

Ok, i have replaced front brakes 4 times in the last 2 years usually about every 6000- 8000 miles along with having to change rotors out because of warpage. I have replaced the calipers also. The last time i did this i started looking into the rear of the vehicle and noticed that the back brakes are hardly worn, therefore probably not working. So then i changed the wheel cylinders hoping that they were stuck or something. Well then i jacked up the back of the truck and put it in drive and tried to stop it well it didn't stop, i mean i could bear down on the brake pedal and nothing. Every once in a while i could get it to slow down or maybe the right wheel would stop but not the left. So then i unhooked the ABS at the master cylinder and the back stopped now, weird right. Well the right wheel still stops before the left but i figured they just needed to be adjusted. I have talked to a few people and they think it's either the Master Cylinder or the ABS module. ANybody else have this problem? I would really like to get this fixed.

thanks

-keith

If you've gotta replace the fronts every 6-8k you've got a problem! I've had mine on for almost 25k now. So your front brakes must be doing all the work.....maybe you just need to bleed the rear lines sounds like it could be air in there.

The parking brake works off of cable, it could quite possibly be working if its a hydrolic or abs problem. Sprocket has a good idea, make sure you bled the brakes well when you replaced the wheel cylinders. If your not getting a good stream back there, you got a hydrolic problem. Could be simply plugged/partially plugged lines, master cylinder, low fluid, air, and some vehicles have a juction/controler box that I think is on the frame rail near the front of the vehicle. If your not getting good fluid to the bleed points at the wheels, start with your lines, they are cheap.
