Mustang turbocharger
Anybody here know anything about the turbos that came on the old 2.3L Mustangs? Like what kind of boost is it capable of, is it intercooled, what kind of efficiency, etc.
I found a used one for $50 and i'm thinking of fabricationg some parts to install it on a 3.9L V6!!

You are the man! Knowing you, and seeing the stainless braided hoses in the pics it is probably a little souped up. How much boost will that run? I'm thinking if that could put out around 15PSI max on a 2.3L that i should be able to get a good 6PSI of boost on a larger displacement engine. It doesn't look like it would be too hard to adapt to a v6 engine, what do ya think?
Actually i've never really lookedat a V6 turbo, would it cause problems having the turbine on only one manifold? Or maybe i'll go with a twin turbo setup....evil laugh...
Anyways i have friends at fab shops that said it would be no problem for them to make the parts i need, once i find the right compressor.

Yeah, it's mine. It's sitting on the end of a bench in my office. It's actually off of an '84 T-Bird. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet.
Unfortunately, I really don't know that much about them, and their capabilities. I do know that they make the heavy 1980's T-Birds get up and go, though! For a V6, I would try and get two, and mount one on each side. If the boost was too much (LOL), you can always adjust the wastegates to let the extra boost out.
Or, you could get a V8, and get this setup:

Take care,

PKRWUD will that twin turbo setup work on a 302 V8??? How do you get one? How hard is it to install, do I need alot of extra parts? And how much does it cost??? Thats too cool

Thanks Chris I'll be waiting for the info. I think that could give a NICE power increase

I probably can't afford it either. But could you imagine you pull up at the local hang out, pop the hood, and there lies your twin turbo aerodynamic brick of a truck.

I goto the street races, race a few ricers and barely beat them. Then I line up with a stang or camaro and put them in their place (my rearview LOL) Everyone would be like damn. Thats what I do now. I race people and only give it enough to beat them and get next to some riced up civic who thinks hes gonna beat me and I use all the power my little v8 has.
