Asking a lot again

I'm getting ready to get new tires/rims and I found a great deal at www.4wheelparts.com. I want to get 15x8 rims and 31/10.5/15 tires. I want to have my tires stick out about 1 in more then they already do. Right now I've got 15x7.5 stock rims on 31/10.5/15. I don't know the backspcing of my stock rims nor do I understand how it works but I know I would have to look for a backspacing with about a 1 in difference if I want my tires to stick out more, does anyone know the backspacing of my stock aluminum rims? Or does anyone know the backspacing of the rims I should look for. Also my lugs would be 5 on 5.5...correct?

I don't know if 4wheelparts could help you, but if you call any major tire place, like Firestone or Dunn Tire they can look up the backspacing for you, and tell you what aftermarket sizes will fit without causing problems.

The stock 15 x 7.5 wheels on a 96 2WD are approx 4" backspacing. The 16 x8 AR Bajas that I replaced them with are 4-7/16" backspacing and clear everything nicely. Obviously 4WD may vary.

So would the higher the back spacing mean the more they stick out...or the higher it is the more in they are?
4-7/16 would that make them stick out approx.. 7/16in farther if I'm going from 4in?

The smaller the backspacing, the more they stick out and the more load they place on your wheel bearings and suspension joints.

You just had to say that and make me reconsider getting a smaller backspacing! LOL thanks for your help...I'm brain-dead when it comes to wheels/tires and stereo systems!

Well I'm ordering the American Racing Atlas wheel

15 x 8 with I think a 4in backspacing
I'm getting some BFG A/T with them for about $1500
I can't wait!!!
Never thought I'd get some bling bling rims but I just got a new credit card so who cares!
