Need Help
I need some help. I have a 95 F150 XLT with a 5.0L. It has 180,000 miles on it now. The problem is that when it warms up it starts stuttering at low throttle. If you stomp on the gas it goes just fine. This doesn't start till it warms up after about 10 minutes now. The Check engine light comes on every once in a while but only stays on for a minute or two. My mechanic tried to pull the codes but there weren't any. So far I've replaced the Throttle Positions Sensor, spark plug wires, timing chain, cleaned the EGR Valve and the throttle body. My mechanic and I thought it was either the TPS or the timing chain but it's still doing it. The only other thing we can think of is if there is a short in the wire going to the TPS. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PKRWUD, where is the MAF sensor and how does one clean it? I have been having an idle problem with my 94' 5.0. It goes high (1800rpm) between gear changes and will stay high if I coast in neutral until I hit the brakes, at which time it will come back down.
A faulty MAF sensor has been one of the things proposed that may be wrong, but someone told me I can't clean the MAF sensor because I would damage it. So I can clean it? And do you know where it is located on the 5.0?

I went out and cleaned out the MAF Sensor. I also saw that the air temp sensor was unplugged and laying behind the airbox and hoped that that was it but no. It's still doing it but it doesn't seem as bad now. I had a couple of other ideas of what it could be, let me know what you think of them. Bad plugs, clogged cat, bad air temp sensor. The most confusing thing is that it runs great for the first 10 minutes until it warms up, that and there is no codes. Thanks

Disconnect the neg. battery cable, and while it's disconnected, turn on your headlight switch for 10 minutes. Turn it off, reattach the battery, and test drive.
Should improve.

It's just after your air filter. Remove it, and clean the wire GENTLY with a Q-tip and alcohol.

Have you cleaned the Idle Air Control? They tend to crud up with residue from the EGR system and can stick in position or respond improperly to the PCM when they do. That could definitely affect your drivability at low revs/low throttle openings.
Pull it off, clean the guts of it with carb or T/B cleaner and re-install it with a new gasket. It's a 30 minute job, not counting soak time on the IAC.

I cleaned out the Air Intake Control Valve, it wasn't that dirty but I cleaned the crap out of it anyway. One question, the little black plastic **** on top of the IAC, is that suppose to move at all like in and out or just rotate around? I reset the computer. Still doing it. It comes and goes more now instead of being a constant once it warms up. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. It starts sooner now though. Need more ideas.

My truck is still in the shop this week. They still can't figure out the problem. They think it might be a short in the electrical system somewhere but they're still looking. I'll let you know when I find out.
