Beastie
Hey Beastie,
I checked out you gallery and I see that we have the same truck and alot of the same ideas. I have a question about your MAS to filter adapter, what did you use to make it and which filter did you use? I made one out of a PVC closet flange but haven't put it on yet. How does it work? I'd also like to see pictures of how you put your subs under your seat. I have 2 10"s under the seat with a home made lift in 2 Q Logic truck wedge boxes facing down with an amp rack in between them. I'll take some pics of mine when I get my camera back. I also have a stock exhaust with a glasspack. I was thinking about getting the Flowmaster 40 series. Do you have any idea about the sound or performance differences between the two? Thanks
Nate

Thanks for the compliments, BTW your truck looks great also.
To answer some of your questions:
The MAS to filter adapter was made out of 1/8" steel tubing 3" diameter and about 1 1/2" long. This was welded to a 1/8" steel plate I dont know exactly how big with a 3" hole cut in it. Then I just took of the MAS and marked where the holes were and drilled them out. The filter is a K&N that I ordered from www.truckperformance.com it is:
Filter Base Diameter (D): 5inch
Filter Top Diameter (D): 4 5/8inch
Filter Length (L): 8inch
Flange Length (FL): 1 3/4inch
Flange Style (FA): Centered
End Cap Style: Rubber
The temperature gauge that was on the side of the stock airbox I removed and drilled a jole in the front of the filter...the rubber part and justed pushed it in there. It is wedged between the frame of the truck and the filter and hasnt fallen out.
The intake sounds great. It has a deep throaty sound especially at WOT (Wide Open Throttle).
I will go take some pics of my subs in a sec. The box was home built out of 3/4" MDF board from LOWES. It was like $10. I think the subs sound great. DID your subs make the heat shield rattle, mine drove me crazy I have jammed some pvc between it and the chassi to help. And then I hammered away at it. It is fine now. Also I couldnt find any carpet to match so I bought some grey for temporary and threw it on their. Once I get the red, I'll make it look real nice.
As for the exhaust goes, I like the flow, at 1500-1800 it is very deep and can be heard i nthe cab but I dont mind I wanted that. At WOT it sounds like I'm an aircraft taking off, I kinda wish it was deep and aggresive the whole time, but this is on their until I can do a true dual setup. I have a diagram in my gallery of it. But overal I like the exhaust and it was only $140 installed and it was all clamped and welded on there. The performance is noticeable. I didn't loose any low end, but I can't tell if I gained much because since I put my BFGoodrich 275/60R15s I cant spin em at all. Before on the stock 235/75R15 I could spin em on occasion. But on the highway I gained a noticeable amount of power. I used to race my friends Infintity SUV and we were almost dead even. But over the weekend, we went at it again from 80mph and he had about a truck and a half lead on me when we went at it. And I not lying, I made that distance up and put about 2 more trucks or so on him and we were goin about 105-110, because he was doin 100 and we were pulling away. Intel486 another member was with me and saw this.
I'll go take the pics I hope this helps.

It looks like about the same as mine with the wedge style box. That's a pain to fit stuff under there with the floor sloping up like that. I haven't seen a whole lot of pictures of subs under the back seats of our trucks. I don't have my camera right now, but when I get it back i'll take some pics of my set up. Luckily I have the grey interior so finding almost matching carpet was a little easier. As for the heat shield rattling, it does it sometimes. It was rattling against it self though so I tightened up the screws and it's not to bad now. I'm planning on doing some more with my truck once i get it running well again. It's going back to the shop tomorrow to get a new timing chain and TPS. It's running pretty bad right now. If you ever need another TPS go with the dealer part. I'm on my 3rd Advance/AutoZone part and there just not good. How many miles do you have on yours now. I'm now at 180,000. It's been great except for a sensor every once in a while. The only major thing was a trans rebuild aboout 30, 000 miles ago. Have fun.
