Engine stalls on Startup, then runs fine after cranked again.
When I start my '88 F-150 after it's set for a while, the motor stalls sometimes even after I start it the second time the motor stalls. But, after that, it starts fine and the RPM's go right up and everything is O.K. Is there a sensor going bad?
It's an '88 F-150, manual, 5.0

i had the same prob on my 1992 it would start up fine and a couple of seconds later it would peter out and die but would start right back up and run fine mine was the ecu not giving it enough fuel at start up but swaped it out with an updated one and it never did it again i have the strait 6 i dont knowabout the 5.0 just thought id give my piece
The reason I asked was because F150's have had a problem wiith the wiring harness below the battery getting contaminated with battery acid, and what happens is the O2 sensor wire gets a small short in it, and at start up, the ECM detects it, and tries to go into self-test mode, flickers the MIL, and the engine usually dies. Upon restart, though, it clears it, and works fine. Since you said the MIL isn't coming on, i would first try and see if there are any codes stored.
