Today is a very big day
Greetings Gentlemen,
I know this isn't a general discussion forum, but you guys are like family, so it is here that I want to share this. Today is going to be a very big day for me, and for the first time in years, I am truly nervous. Let me explain:
First of all, I'll be 36 in a month, and I am very single. I have been since the breakup of my last relationship, 2.5 years ago, which went on for 7+ years. I have not been looking for a girlfriend, and had completely convinced myself that being single was my destiny. I was tired of getting screwed over, and used, and so forth, and decided I didn't need any woman for more than a few hours at a time, and have been completely content with that lifestyle ever since.
Then a funny thing happened. There is another website that I do alot of tech advice for, and I have been there for more than 3 years. Well, there also happens to be a very attractive woman, my age, on that site who likes to flirt, but who I never knew beyond the forums. Then late one night, she sent me a private message because we were the only two there. That was about a month ago. We started sending each other instant messages, which lead to phone calls, which led to, well, I pick her up at the airport in a few hours.
We have both really gotten to know each other, through long conversations, and dozens of pictures, and it really does feel like it's a pretty good thing. My common sense side would heavily advise against this if any friend of mine came and told me they were doing something like this, but I just can't help it. She's really terrific. Unfortunately, she has been one of the most sought after women on this other message board, and several of the guys there now seem to be kinda pissed at me, but maybe that's just my imagination.
Either way, I can't believe how excited and nervous I am about the whole thing. I feel like a teenager again, only I know a little bit more now than I did then.
The best part is that she's really into cars and racing. She is going to help us in the pits on Saturday with the Sprint car. She's gorgeous, trim, funny, and intelligent. She owns a '94 Mustang convertible that she enters in car shows. She's won over 85 trophies with it so far, and does alot of the mechanical work, and all of the polishing and detailing work herself. I don't understand what it was I did to finally hook into something good, but whatever it was, I'm not complaining. She also has never done anything like this before, but we both seem to feel the other is pretty special.
Who knows. Shes staying with me through Monday, so I guess we'll both have a better idea by then, but it really does feel pretty damn good. I'll keep you guys posted. Wish me luck.
Take care,
-Chris

Hey, gives heart to those of us 30 year olds who can't seem to find anyone who won't use us. Women these days are impossible... most of them. ;-) The question is not, "What can I (guy) do for you (woman)." (Think $$)
Sounds like you might have found a good one. Good luck!

Chris,
I do wish you the best of luck. I am in my early 30's and have been with the same woman since I was 16. We have been married since 1994. It has been a long relationship, but a good one. She enjoys that I enjoy Drag Racing, she understands I spend a lot of time building and tinkering on my Funny Car, she does not participate, but that is OK, she has her things as well. What I am saying, is this, once you find someone that enjoys you enjoying your things, she is a KEEPER!!! Wish you tons of LUCK! Not every woman is a gold digger, sounds like you may have found a sincere one. It also sounds like you may increase your tool collections as well, a win, win!

Chris,
Best of luck. Sounds like you may have found something good.
Like yourself I always considered long distance or internet meeting strange until recently. Then I realized that you do get to really know people and what they are like. Hell I feel that if I ever met some of the guys in here we could shoot the breeze like HS friends or something.
Ask her if she would adjust my timing with the hot ignition in place and wearing no gloves. If she says yes, then the two of you must be a match.

She aint getting anywhere near your ignition!!!
yeah, it really seems too good to be true. She's a knockout, employed, healthy, smart, believes fingernail polish is for when she can't get all the grease out from under her nails, and paid her way out here to see me. I'm telling you, all the normal warning signs are covered. She said the thing that really got her attention was a thread several months ago in which, for whatever reason, I posted a couple pics of my garage. She loved it. She knows the difference between a standard socket and an impact, and a 12 point vs a 6 point.
Sound like my dream girl, or what!
Headed to the airport now.

Take care,

Well guys, thanks for your support! It went great! In fact, today really sucks because she's not here. I have to run, but I'll post a full story, and maybe a picture or two as well, in a little bit.
Take care,

I just cut and pasted this from MustangWorks because I'm too busy to type. Christine is well known there by her screen name, Topless In Texas, which is the name of her '94 Mustang Convertible show car (has won 85+ trophies). No one here said anything bad, but their were some smart a$$es there.
My Weekend With Christine
Well, I just got back from taking her to the airport, and decided to share my feelings on this past weekend with Christine. Some of you guys have really pushed the envelope asking for details that are really nobodies business, but I'll share with you what I can.
For starters, Christine is by far, the most beautiful woman I have ever known. She is fun, intelligent, caring and compassionate. I have never met another woman like her, and I doubt that I ever will again. We had so much fun while she was here, just doing everyday things. We had a great time with everything we did.
I picked her up in L.A. on Friday. After leaving the airport, we drove up to Ventura along the Pacific Coast Highway, passing through Santa Monica and Malibu along the way. We stopped by the Borla factory, but couldn't get past the employee-only entrance. After dropping off her bags, we went up to Ojai to see Skyman at his PC store. We then travelled the scenic route back, stopping for a while at a vista view that overlooked the Ojai Valley. As we were passing through Santa Paula and hour and a half later, we spyed several hot rods on the town's Main Street. We parked, and walked around among all the cars in this monthly car show. There were several exceptional vehicles there, including 20 or more with 6-71 or bigger blowers. This was the point during the weekend where I think I lost my heart to this woman. She was just as excited about the cars and their engines as I was, and her past experience of judging at car shows became apparent. She went over several of the cars with a fine tooth comb, and picked many of them apart. She really does know her stuff!
On Saturday, we went racing. She was awesome at the track, and really did an excellent job helping us out! She did everything she was told, and she did it outstandingly. She not only oiled the Heim joints for us, she polished them! She made trips up to the pit board everytime we needed to know our starting position, and returned with info about the other cars we were up against. She worked non-stop trying to make us a better team, and she succeeded. We were by far the most popular team there, and had more guys stopping by to wish us luck than we ever had before. She quickly became the most popular person there! Unfortunately, we had a rough night on the track. We finished second in our heat race, but had trouble in the Main event. On the second lap, the points leader cut across the infield birm between turns 1 and 2, trying to pass us for the lead, and instead became airborne, and landed with their right rear tire coming down on our left front. That wouldn't have been such a big deal, except for the fact that it ripped out the brake line when it happened. The result was we had NO BRAKES for the rest of the race! We still stayed in 2nd, closing in on the lead, when a lapped rookie spun out right in front of us with only two laps to go, and we ended up sliding into him sideways, bending the right rear rim, and blowing out the tire. The simple fact that Christine was there, and had such a great, positive attitude, kept everyone in very high spirits anyway. She will always have a spot on our team.
Sunday was going to be spent up at Knapps Castle, and The Cold Springs Tavern, in San Marcos Pass, above Santa Barbara, but we never even made it out of the house. She showed me videos of her on TV, and of her skiing 12 years ago. We looked through yearbooks, and told each other stories, and just had a really great time.
For all you busy-bodies wanting all the dirty details, well, too bad. You're not getting any from me. All I will say is that I have never been happier than I was while she was here. I honestly don't know what the future holds, but what ever it is, it won't be easy. Ventura, California, and League City, Texas, are quite a ways apart. If we could afford to fly to either place each weekend, we probably would, but that's just not possible. What I will say is this; I hope to get to spend alot more time with her in the future, and I probably will, but even if I never saw her again, I would still be a better person for the time we spent together.
If you are ever lucky enough to get to meet her, you would be a fool not to. She is truly remarkable woman.
Take care,
-Chris
Below is a picture I took of Christine on Friday. It was taken at a place we stopped at for a while in Ojai, over looking the Ojai Valley, shortly after stopping by Skyman's store. The smoke from a nearby fire is very apparent in the background.

And here's a picture of her cleaning up the car after a heat race. Christine is at the rear of the car, and crew member Dave Hulce's wife, Patti, is the one closest to the camera. I swear they were both standing up when I went to take the picture!
