Fuel Injection vs. Carburated

Hi,

A buddy of mine is replacing the block in his 90 F150. He bought a long block rebuilt, and while bolting on some of the parts from the old motor, noticed that the block he bought was from an 86 F150.

So, my question to all of you experts out there.........is there a difference between the block and heads on a carburated 302 and a fuel injected 302?

Thanks in advance!

I thought the 86s were injected also. They're not?

I believe they did not start putting fuel injection in until 87 with the new style.

Yeah, my buddy has an old '85 302 that's fuel injected:

As for the swap, it'll work if you keep the nessesary componets from the original motor.

Well, thanks for the info guys! And thanks for setting me straight on the fuel injection -- model years as well!

yeah my 85 was one of the last carb's, and in the middle of the 85 model year they switched to fuel injection.

By 1986, all 302's were FI. It wasn't until 1988 that the 351's and 460's were fuel injected though. I think the 300's were the same, too (carb. until 1988).
